During the summer in Florida our AC was not functioning properly. it was very hot and our power bills were in the $300's so we called AHS and they sent out Economy Appliance Heat & Air, Inc. the rep was here for maybe 20 minutes and said we were low on freon so he added some and recharged it then said we needed a filter. We bought a filter and after all he said he done nothing changed at all. so a couple days later we had a friend come out who does AC work for a living and they said there was no freon. the guy lied on the invoice!

We just let it go and tried different things. we bought new insulation and that still didn't seem to help much. Now it is winter and in the temps have gone down to the 20's we called out the gas company and paid extra for them to turn on the heat the same day just to find out that the heater wouldn't even come on!

So we put in another home warranty claim had someone come out that actually spent a lot of time here and had a whole sheet of paper with a list of things wrong with our unit. basically the guy said the system is shot out! Also that we have had Carbon Minoxide leaking in out attic this whole time. I have had 2 miscarriages this past year. maybe this had something to do with that. I am pregnant again and am now having to deal with the stress of the company b/c they never called us back after the visit so today I called them and they denied the claim b/c they said the unit needs to be cleaned and maintained and that is not covered. I was in tears and had my husband call, he couldnt get through to them at all and threatned them with an attorney.

they called back this evening around 7:30pm saying there is a 2nd option. to have a different company come out (of their choice of course) and if they have the same diagnosis we will just have to pay the service fee. NO! the diagnosis we got the 1st time was just fine! now we are going to search for a good attorney tomorrow.

Same problem with AHS

I as well had the SAME issue with my a/c. Mine started to leak as well, and I contacted AHS at the first sign. When someone FINALLY came out, they declared the coils completely "clogged" with debris, thus causing the water to not flow down the drain. This was a cleaning/maintenance issue, and the AHS provider wanted $500 to clean it, which would fix the problem. I quickly got to work calling other companies, all of which were significatly cheaper (in the $250 range). One came the very next day, and upon starting the cleaning process, quickly found a loose fitting, snapped it back together, and fixed the leak. What should have been a covered fix, cost me almost $300, BUT the AHS sent company, wanted $500 to clean the coils.

I totally agree with all the complaints I have read about AHS. I too, have had the same complaints about them. I cancelled 2 accounts with them because they do not cover anything that I pay them for. Please include me in a class action suit. I would like to hear from anyone who knows how to go about starting the process. Thanks Roma
