I was contacted on September 17, 2001 by a company calling itself American Patinum Services. I was told that they had a great rebate plan and that I would also receive $500.00 worth of grocery coupons. It sounded like it might be a good thing.The only catch was, they wanted $219.00. They also wanted $30.00 a month for 10 months but said I would come out ahead using the rebate program. I was also supposed to have $1,500. credit line and they would report positive credit information to the credit bureaus monthly.As I needed some credit repair, I thought this would help me. I was worried when they asked me for my bank account information. I was assured that it would be recorded and that if I had any problems that I could call their 1-800 number. (1-800-282-3962)
I was also told that I would receive a package in the mail and could look it over. If I didn't want the program I could call and cancel.
I have tried for weeks to contact this company and tell them I could not participate because I was in a car accident and unable to pay all my bills as it is. All I get is a message telling me that all customer service reps are busy and to leave my name and phone number and they will call me back. A few times, I was told the message box was full. I left several messages to call me back and also that I wanted to cancel. I also informed them I would try my best to have them investigated for fraud.
I am unable to trace this company at all. If anyone has had any dealings with this company please contact me.
Today, I had $219.00 taken out of my bank account causing my house payment to bounce. I am very unhappy.

American Platinum is not part of American Platinum Phone service and does not make outbound calls. A consumer must apply via an online (two page) application. The enrollment fee is not 75.00.

GOOD NEWS !!!! As I had accessed my bank account during the late hours of the night and found the money missing from my account, I called the bank first thing this morning. It is my lucky day! The bank still had the check in their possession and I was able to go to the bank, sign affadavits and get my money back!!! It cost me $10.00 but a small price to pay to know that this bogus company will NEVER get any of my money!!! I couldn't get any ifo on this company to track their whereabouts but the name on the check was different than the one they were using on the phone. The name on the cheCk was "AMERICAN PLATINUM PHONE". After another exhaustive search of 1-800 directories, again, I found nothing. I am glad to report good news but BEWARE THIS COMPANY!!!!! I would still appreciate any leads as I still wish to pursue this and stop them from hurting other people.

JUST A FEW MINUTES AFTER UPDATING THIS REPORT THIS MORNING, I ACTUALLY RECEIVED A RETURN PHONE CALL FROM THIS COMPANY. A WOMAN NAMED "RUTH" SAID SHE DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY I COULDN'T GET THROUGH TO THE NUMBER THAT SHE IS THERE MOST OF THE TIME. (???) THIS IS AFTER I SPENT THE ENTIRE NIGHT LAST NIGHT CALLING THIS NUMBER AND LEAVING NASTY MESSAGES WHEN I COULD GET THE MACHINE, OR THE LINE WASN'T BUSY OR THE MAILBOX WASN'T FULL. I LEFT MESSAGES SAYING THIS MATTER WOULD BE TURNED OVER TO A LOCAL COUNTY FRAUD INVESTIGATION UNIT AND THAT I HAD ALSO POSTED THEM AS FRAUDS ON THE INTERNET. THE LADY SAID SHE WOULD LOOK INTO THE MATTER AND CORRECT THE BILLING. I'M NOT WORRIED BECAUSE IT HAS ALREADY BEEN CORRECTED. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO CORRECT THE AMOUNT THEY TRIED TO TAKE OUT OF MY ACCOUNT. THE AMOUNT WAS ONLY $75.00 AND A FEW PENNIES. THE $219.00 WAS I BELIEVE THE TOTAL COST.
