I was told i somehow connected with this site or these people via the internet altho i have no recollection. I had a phone call come in about suppertime on March 19th 2012. A woman gave me the story about magazines and how i could get x amount for this amount and so on. She did give her name but i cannot recall it. She did tell me the call would be taped. She did have me recite parts back to her saying that i understood.

The call was such a long one at the time, and i wanted to get it over and done with. I look after my daughters two children, was trying to get their dinner and keep them quiet while i talked. I am 59..to be 60 this year and i have had some problems with confusion and memory issues.

After all said and done, i thought i understood that id pay x amount for so many magazines, and then she started to talk about more magazines for a one set amount..or so i thought thats what she had meant. I okayed that part, gave my Visa number. And was told a number to call if at any time i wished to cancel. I was not told this number would cancel only the 1.95 they were charging to get the magazines to me. They had taken 58.00 and change out of my bank account by the next day.

I called Visa the same night this woman was done talking to me. I thought about it and got very afraid about what i had just said ok to and had given my Visa number over the phone like that. I called Visa and told them id done something foolish and wished to stop that card and reordered a new one so that they couldnt take further money from my account.
Then i took the number this company gave me..1 800 044 8424..and called to cancel what i thought, would be everything.

With this little deal was supposed to be a watch and some Petro Canada gas cards. When i called this 800 number i was shocked to get a place in Montreal. They are a service for America's Magazine. I was told by someone to give it a few days, if id gotten nothing to call them back, that i had 14 days to cancel. I said ok. Meanwhile i called Visa and they told me to call them back, that they saw the fiftyeight dollars had come out of my account, and cancel it. If i didnt get the  product within a certain time to let them know and they could take issue with them on it..*for the money i lost*

I was given this number by my Td Canada Trust Bank..1 866 446 0566.. I was never given this number by this woman that made the magazine deal with me, she gave me the number in Montreal to cancel. I was stunned to hear this service was based in Montreal and she couldnt help me with much. When i tried to call the 1 866 446 0566 number, it was supposed to be 24 hours a day line..and it was closed down. I couldnt reach anyone.

I then had Easter ..and of course, being busy, i forgot. Then i called today, Wednesday April 11..i called my bank. They put me through to this same number as they did before..a 8664460566 Pablo, the supervisor, said it was my first time calling them. He disputed what i said, asking for this and that and i couldnt tell him much of anything he was asking and i thought..u people know this..You know what to do, how to play this game with people dumb enough like me..to catch us like flies in a spiderweb.

He asked me if i could get phone records to send him. I cant do that, i can hardly get around. Im on Ontario Disability. He went on about the taped recordings and im well aware that i had responded back and i had agreed. But i was not given a number for *their customer service* so that in itself, caused a delay within that 14 day period to cancel. And, they did not really make it that clear to someone ..me..that i could cancel the 1.95 but i ws going to be stuck with five years of paying for magazines that i agreed to without understanding i couldnt cancel that part after the 14 days was up.

I thought i would have magazines in hand to look over, and if within that 14 days ..i didnt want them, i could cancel. Pablo tells me that i wouldnt get any of the magazines for 8 to 16 weeks. I was horrified! I had no idea it was going to take that long. And of course it would go well past the 14 days you have to decide if u want them or not.  They have a very crappy way to set things up for people on this end of the phone but its to their advantage.

He sits in his little office and im sure he gets countless calls like mine..and he can justify what was done by saying, well we didnt get a call from  you to our customer service dept. so this file is still active. We have nothing here saying its been cancelled. Because they have this other service sitting in Montreal that takes the flack off them but sends people spiraling around in circles trying to find the right place to call ..to get your money back.

My daughter took over the phone, talked with him, then called the Montreal Service..she was told i cancelled the 1.95 not once but twice..but i was never told by anyone that it wouldnt stop the magazines from coming or from me being billed for them for the next five years. My bank gave me the number of customer service to this company..the company misled me so far as im concerned. I should have been given their company number..not some service in Montreal, that in my eyes, was just a run around to delay that 14 days so you were going to be stuck.!!

I do not want the magazines or any part of anything that was to come with them. I want my money refunded to my account.!! I dont care what i said or agreed to on any recordings, they know the gameplan and they play it well with people like myself. And when people like myself, realize we did the wrong thing and want to stop it, and stop them from taking our money, my money..im told i was too late calling in because its past that 14 day cancellation time they offer you. Ha what a joke this whole thing is!!

Someone has to be able to help me here..!! Pablo told my daughter because i wont pay for anything further, that my bill will be placed into a collections agency. So they know exactly how this all works because im not the first they have done this to. You cant get blood from a stone and i dont have money..im on disability..they cant touch my disability..its government funded living. But in honesty, i did like the idea of having magazines delivered to my home to save me trying to get out..but i totally missed exactly what it entailed even tho i said i understood. I clearly didnt.

I made a mistake. I want to correct my mistake and i dont feel i should have to be tied into taking magazines for the next five years because i didnt stop and think at the time..but i had so much going on at the moment she called me..it was only later that i thought on it and knew i shouldnt have done this..! Please, can someone help me out of this situation ..somehow? thank you..
