AMR Ambulance of Brockton, Massachusetts Brockton ,Massachusetts Police Dept. I was treated unfairly and my rights under the Americans With Disabilities Act were violated. And they have the audacity to send me a bill for $2,700.00 !!! Brockton, Massachusetts
I was stopped by the police in Brockton, Ma. I was never cited for any violations but they towed my vehicle.
An ambulance from American Medical Response of Brockton showed up at the scene.
I was told I had to go in the ambulance to the Good Samaritan hospital.
I couldn't understand why all this was happening, I was not under the influence of anything, I was not involved in an accident, not injured or even ill.
I was not able to thoroughly comprehend the reasoning behind the police officer's decision as I am hearing impaired and they did not provide a sign language interpreter for me at anytime during this event.
The paramedic wrote down his name and cell number so my father could contact him.
He also wrote down a note telling me not to worry, it's not my fault and I should file a complaint against the Brockton Police Dept.
My father contacted the paramedic the next day and was told that the cop was being unreasonable and unsympathetic to my needs. He also stated that my other choices were to go back to the police station and sit in the lobby till my father drives all the way from Warwick,R.I to Brockton to get me and the impounded vehicle.
So he thought it would be better if. they took me to the Good Samaritan Hospital. He told my father that I would at least have a means of communication there because they use a computer software program designed to interact with deaf patients.
However, the aforementioned program was "not working" at the time.
As a result I was then told to sit in the lobby and wait.
4 hours I had to wait ! They all ignored me at that facility. At 7 am a new shift came on and they inquired as to why I was there. They did some bogus vitals check to justify my being there and then let me charge the dead battery on my mobile device so I could contact my dad to come help me out.
None of the involved want to admit to their poor judgement and needless actions. But it didn't take long for their bills to arrive at my residence. I was astounded and in disbelief that after all they put me through they actually expect to be paid !! We had to pay &130.00 to get my vehicle from the towing company, the ER want $350.00, and the most absurd of all is a $2,700.00 bill from AMR of Brickton, Ma.
Despite repeated attempts to convince this company that the incident was needless and my rights under ADA were not adhered to they insist on being paid and they couldn't be any interested to my plight.
