I signed up for a 2 week trial. A week later, I used it one time to see if they had improved any, since I was an OLD SUBSCRIBER in the past. I had a 1 year subscription, which it didn't help me one IODA.
I sent them email that day telling them to cancel me, Its not what I was looking for. I also explained how I couldn't get past this new United Kingdom promotion they were pushing, which I have no use of, since Im not British or Irish.
Well, I go to pay my phone bill, (mind you, Im temporarily on a fixed income), and all my money is gone. My whole friggin Check. I have an 8 year old child. I have no bill money, no grocery money. I was in an accident, so now I can't even get out of the house.
Well, I traced it all back through the help of my bank to Ancestry.com. They hit me 3 times, in a 2 week period. The total came to almost $400 dollars, plus I got hit with a $90 overcharge, cause the money wasn't there to begin with.
Now, I have no phone service, and have to come up with a deposit to turn in back on.
I have called the Bank, and they are willing to work with me. I am going to sign the forms I need to sign.
I am calling the Attorney General of my State as well as Utah.
They told me on the phone that you can not cancel by email. I never seen that in the policy, but it doesn't really matter. A cancelation, is a cancelation, makes no difference how it is done.
I read 26 complaints on Ripoff about this between 3/12/2001-6/28/2004, I just wish I had seen it sooner.
Come'on, they can't ALL be nuts.
How many victims don't even know about ripoffreport.
I say we all file a classaction consumer suit.
Oh yeah, I can't forget to point out, The lady at ancestry.com also told me about how somebody needs to submit a family tree, I am sorry, I had to laugh, because I thought that's what they are getting paid to do? That's what my $400 dollars is paying for!
BADDDDDDDDDD BUUUUUSSSSNESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS in Utah ONCE AGAIN!
