When I signed up for AOL (where they ruined my computer with buggy programs that cancelled out my brower), they offered me this FABULOUS chance to learn about my family. I could try ancestry.com for 30 days and see if I liked it.

Three days later, a nice lady called to see how I liked the service. I had not logged on. She said she would do a search for me. We tried three family members from different branches of the clan. No dice. We obviously don't exist.

I thought perhaps I'd have better luck with search, so I did log in once and only once. Online searching is one of my specialty areas. Again, I could not find any family members other than distant aunt Betty Carolyn. And, I didn't see anything of interest on this relative that I could call anyway.

I did look around a bit. They seem to only have little dull listings from the census like old addresses. Dull. Useless stuff in my opinion.

I marked on my calendar to cancel. Tried a couple of times. Never got through. Emailed 3 times. No response. Called on day 18. That's Good Friday. They were closed as well as Saturday and also Easter Sunday. So, the last three days of the trial, I COULD NOT cancel period.

They charged $99.99 (on Easter Monday I might add) for a crummy service I used about 10 minutes and then decided was not worth looking at even free. They set me up to cancel when they would not even be working.

They are a perfect match for AOL and that joint sales pitch. They scam people and get away with it. Two scams for the price of one. That's about as special as it gets.

If anyone calls from ancestry.com, hang up fast. Don't let them trick you into this worthless service with a high price tag.

It is much too late for advice on what happened last Easter. This company has auto-renew and if you have not specifically cancelled yor subscription or subscriptions and gotten a cancellation number, I would call 1-800-262-3787 press #4 and cancel or your credit card may get billed again.
