My parents had a new house built in 2000. He paid extra to get the quote unquote best windows he could buy. There was some discoloring on the inside finish of the wood. I went over to look at it and found 3 of his windows had rotted to dust on the inside. I called Andersen windows and they basically said tough. They warranty the glass for 20 years and the rest of the window for 10. It is an obvious flaw from the factory. They had to have been leaking since day one to get this rotted inside. On the large 4 window unit you can see where the seal pulled away from the window and allowed water to seep in. The other window you could stick your finger through the wood from the inside of the house. They are the series 400 crank out windows.

So now my 83 year old parents have to worry about coming up with the money to replace these pieces of crap windows and worry about the other 15 or so more windows in there home.

Secondly I purchased a new double French door for my home when it was built in 1999. It cost over $3500. The door is wood on the inside and vinyl clad on the outside. The vinyl cladding is coming off the outside of the door. I called customer service and was told they would be happy to send me new doors at $1000 each to replace the failed ones. Again pathetic. What you have here is a company that was looked at as a premier window and door company that does not stand behind their products. Window and doors should never fall apart and rot out like these have. Sad......

I would not ever recommend them to anyone. I will never buy another one of their products. The cheap metal doors on my home have outlasted the expensive Andersen door by far.

Windows and doors should last the lifetime of the home in my opinion.  Why replace old windows with new ones if they are only going to last 15 years?  Shame on you Andersen windows and door company.  Most manufacturers stand behind their products especially when it is obvious that there was a manufacturing flaw.
