Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this man. My mom brought me to him in 2014 because my hormones weren't balanced. He ran blood work on me, sat me down with my results and gave me a bunch of hoopla that I actually believed. He was very convinving. I had hypothyroid, zero progesterone, little estrogen and testesterone so low that builidng muscle for me was hopeless. He said I was over weight and these were the culprits. I couldn't wait to get home and pop an armour thyroid (120 mg) rub some progesterone on me and call it a night. Before I left the office he wanted to amp up the speed of the testesterone getting in my system since "it was so dangeroulsy low." I obliged and took a large shot in the rear end filled with who the hell knows? Bioidentical testesterone? "All natural." I left and I felt great. Placebo effect. The next day I woke up and I swear to God I had abs.I was ripped I couldn't believe it. The following day, heart palpitations, sweating, clumps of hair falling out of my head. I thought perhaps I was losing my mind.
I went to his office to explain that I felt sick and my hair was falling out rapidly. They all laughed and said, "oh sweetie you are severly hypo thyroid, it has been falling out." I thought okay maybe that was true, maybe I just didnt notice. So I went on my way and continued to put on the creams and pop the pills. My mom kept telling me I was doing so much better so I stayed with it. A few months after I had to see him for my follow up. He weighed me, took my body fat and I went up 6 pounds and increased body fat by 3%. They acted shocked and offered me LIPOSUCTION options that they do in the office. He also suggested that I maybe go on some estrogen. I declined and ran out in tears. I saw another anti aging quack in Sarasota who further screwed me up but he has passed away so I wont be writing a report on him. Stay the hell away from Carlson if you want your hair and your sanity. Since going of of everything my life has been hellacious. During the time of the hormones
I lost a great deal of my hair, grew a small beard on my chin, gained 15 pounds, developed skin disorders such as dermatitis and eczema, lost my menstraul cycle, had insomnia, night sweats, joint pain, brain fog, mood swings....etc etc.
It's been a process to re balance my own hormones naturally. The conditions I listed above are slowly going away but it's been a year now. It's taken a lot of studying and a lot of patience. I could have just ran to a gyno and said hey I want brith control but more hormones is not the answer. It's diet exercise and some essential nutrients. Make sure your gut is working first and foremost.
*Side note, I brought my partner and my dad to see him before the side effects started to really kick in and he gave them the exact speech and diagnosed them almost identically. My partner showed an endocrinologist is results and he almost fell over in disbelief that Carlson prescribed him what he did.
