(formerly United Processing), apparently has a few employees who can't help but abuse the heck out of Illinois consumers. Besides using profanity, shaming consumers by calling friends and family, and lying about being an attorney, SD&A collectors threatened consumers with * Arrest; * Federal prison; and * Losing their children The Illinois Attorney General got a restraining order prohibiting SD&A from doing business in the state, and is also looking for several hundred thousand dollars in penalties. A class action lawsuit is not needed and would be of little benefit to anyone except the lawyers and the lead plantiff. Folks should maintain accurate records of all their FDCPA and FCRA violations and contact an attorney who deals with consumer credit issues and SUE THEM IN DISTRICT COURT!

I've been having a similar go-round with these people. This is what I know so far: 1. The reason you can't find a phone listing for Smith Dean & Associates is because there is none. However, if you do a reverse phonebook search, you will find them as Dean & Associates. 2. While the phone numbers are slightly different, they share the same address as United Processing in Jacksonville, Florida. If you are being harassed by one of them, you have probably received phone calls from each entity. 3. When Angela Davis called ME, she claimed to be representing the Court system in Brevard County (Florida). However, when I did the reverse phonebook search on HER, the number came up as United Processing. So now we have proof that Angela Davis is actually working for both entities, which are probably two offices side-by-side in the same main office. An while she is doing this, she is pretending to be an Officer of the Court. CLASS ACTION, ANYONE??? Because they ARE violating ALL the collections practices statutes, and they really do need to be stopped! So if anyone has the time to actually start a class action suit against them, PLEASE POST IT HERE!!! I promise to join you, and probably a lot of other people will, too.
