It all started as I was looking to purchase a Golden Retriever puppy. I saw an advert offering dogs and bitches for sale in Halifax, Yorkshire, UK. I first tried to call the listed number and discovered the number was invalid. I then emailed the advertiser and later, within an hour I recieved a reply asking for details to confirm I could be a suitable owner such as occupation, location, type of area i lived in. At this stage I replied giving vague details of location and some details of my previous dogs. At this stage I did not find this unusual as I would need to find out some details if I were selling pups to ensure they went to a good home.
I later received a reply to my mail saying that they had relocated to Belfast to work for the Northern Ireland Chamber Of Commerce & Industry. I could collect a pup from Deborah Hillick, 43 hannah glenn heights, Belfast bt170ne. Also that if I was unable to collect then I could have one delevered if I paid 120 for delivery.
At this point I became suspicious as I am an animal lover and there is no way that I would just send a puppie to someone without meeting them myself. Further more the advert had only been placed on Wed 16th September and I did not believe that they could have moved with the pups within 3 days of placing the advert.
I decided to invsestigate the email and tracked it, using the header information, to Cameroon! I now firmly believe that this was an attempt to gain money under false pretences and I for one did not send any moneydue to the suspicious nature of the emails. The email address in question is [email protected] Any dog lovers out there - beware and avoid this one at all costs.
