I am sure at one time AOL was a good product. All I know is after I installed it on my computer, my computer never ran the same. I started asking around and several people had the same problems. If you want to use AOL that is your choice. I just wanted people to know about my own personal experience. I use DSL and will never go back to dial up services. If you give AOL your credit card number make sure you check your statements. I quote the following from AOL fine print billing statement in there "90 days risk-free" offer: "If you are not satisfied with AOL for any reason, just call 1-888-211-3926 within 90 days of registration to cancel your account and request a refund of your AOL monthly membership fees. Your AOL account must be in good standing and only the paid standard AOL monthly membership fees will be refunded. Other costs, including dial-up charges, hourly fees, premioum service charges, will not be refunded. You must use the enclosed registration number and passorword to sign up for the AOL service to be eligible for this guarantee. Refund will be credited to your AOL billing method on file within 2 to 3 billing cycles...Members using a dial up access may incur charges on their phone bills depending on calling plan and location..." My computer works much better without AOL software. My phone bill is not as high. It took me forever to get the software off my computer. I had to do a complete system re-install and then go deep into the hard drive and delete the registry to completly remove the AOL software. When I had called AOL and told them what happend after I tried to uninstall there software they wouldn't give me a straight forward answer. When they tried to transfer me to another department that might be able to help me I was hung up on during the transfer. As I said before, If you want to use AOL it is your choice. Read the fine print, make a back up of your computer system and use this software at your own risk.

AOL is not worth $23 or the new rate of $25 per month, BUT, I have recently opted out and tried: MSN NetZero PeoplePC and frankly I didn't care for any of these and I am now back on one of the introductory AOL packages. AOL is overpriced BUT I like them better than the other services. In another 49 days I will have to decide to stay or go (again), probably I will threaten to quit and get a reduced rate from them and stay.
