AOL - America Online stole money from my checking account four times. Rip-off! Internet
I discontinued my service with AOL in December of 2003. They kept hounding me about a 24.90 charge until July 2004, finally I did pay that charge over the phone with my checking account. BIG MISTAKE!! September 10th AOL attempted to deduct two charges of 89.99 from my checking account but thank goodness i did not have the funds because my deposit had not gone through, so i did incurr bank charges.
Then again on September 13th they tried to steal 99.99 and 89.99, but i was wise to that also and had a stop payment put on that. and since i have been a good customer with my bank the lady in accounting knows me real well also, they put all of the money back into my acct including the NSF charges. She said that AOL is notorious for taking money from people's accounts, she also told me that the only sure way to keep them from stealing my money is to close my account, which i did today.
Also, the lady that runs the daycare where my child stays had this happen to her also, she too had closed her account. It seems that they attack those who have closed their accounts. Since we didnt want to give them anymore money, they feel that they can STEAL it. Are they so close to bankrupt that they have to steal money? I think that everyone that this has happened to should get together and file a class action law suit.
