- (APC) American Power Conversion ripoff company. Refusal to honor legitimate warranty claim and poor technical support West Kingston Rhode Island .....

I purchased an APC Back-ups 350CS UPS after hearing good reviews on this product. Keep in mind this has an advertised 2 year warranty. After 7 months, one day the unit could no longer be detected by my PC running windows xp. First try...called APC technical support. They gave me the runaround trying different suggestions, then claimed that my Windows XP drivers were missing for the unit to be detected. So after calling Microsoft AND Hewlett-Packard, they BOTH advised me that no such drivers exist to remedy this situation, and the problem is the unit itself.

Second try... Contacted APC again this time via their live chat support. Told them about the problem and what Microsoft and HP had told me. APC's rep also insisted it was a missing driver problem. I then told this person I has tried this same UPS on a Windows 98 PC and it still was not detected! After advising the rep of this, he did not hesitate to change the subject quickly and once again mention the driver issue.

Finally I told him it's obviously a defective unit that's still under warranty and what he intends to do to remedy the situation. He then disconnect our live chat session without any further contact attempts. This my friends is a good example of "legendary reliability" alright and outstanding customer service!

Done with APC..there are other makers of back-ups that make quality products!
