Buyer Beware! The JVC GR-HD1u video cam is not compatible with new Intel based Macs and the new OSX 10.4. Strange but true it works on an old G4 cube and any G5 running OSX 10.3 but NOT 10.4.....

JVC blames Apple - Apple says call JVC - nobody takes responsibility - blame each other - but the bottom line is consumers with this very popular JVC HD Video cam -are stuck with a 2000.00 newer video camera that won't be recognized by a newer Mac. Apple would take the new iMac back - less a 10% restocking fee. I don't say Apple is a bad company, but consumers may want to check compatibility between their video cameras by testing BEFORE you buy. The Apple store employees will tell you - no problem... then when it is in fact a problem with their OSX 10.4 - tell you tough toenails - not our problem. There is no fix. Apple or JVC have no interest in resolving the issue either.

Thank you Apple for adding the simple line of code that took your programming and software experts about 3 minutes to include one of JVCs most popular HD video cameras.

As a side note... I had to sell that Camera and buy a new Canon XL1s.... it always works great and so does my Mac.
