I have had to "re-take" responsibility for my ex-wives 2002 Jeep Liberty. She was three months behind and had no insurance on it. I was told by Arcadia that I could sell the car( est 17,500) and pay off the remaining balance of the totla owed (21,000) over a two year period. They even quoted me an estimated interest rate and monthly payment. I made two back payments and added the jeep to my policy. When it came time for them to take action and send me a title for my buyer... They never returned any of my calls. For exactly one month they stalled and I lost the buyer and her $15,000. I called them and they said they WOULD NOT, COULD NOT, AND NEVER! settle or give a clear title for less then what is owed. Not at $15,00 and not even at $18,000. I told them I would not make a payment until I paid the total MINIMUM amount. 30 more days passed. They called and threatend repossesion. I called back and asked about paying it of for less, or getting a clear title, so I could sell. I also told them I was aware of some laws being broken in these interactions. NOW they say " sure we can do that at 75% total balance". This person said she was shocked that they would not do this 30 days prior. She said they do it all the time at 80% but because they screwed me up before they could start at 75%. or aproximately $15,600. I said I can sell it if I know you wont come and get it. She said they would not. Well they did! NOW WHAT? They will sell it for less then I could have. They will come after me for the rest and my credit will show a repo. The whole reason I took it from my ex was to avoid this! This company is a bunch off lying crooks. I have spoken with probably ten different agents, 9 out of ten of them have lied to me. I have called since the repo and they don't call back. They are breaking federal laws by not contacting me or sending me infromation on my account by us post office. I have made them aware of this. Still nothing in the mail. I have no way of proving any of my conversations or agreements with them. They actualy told me they don't even NEED my mailing address.
