Around The Clock, INC. furnace repair ripoff fraudulent estimates diangosing unneeded repairs North Hollywood California
When the weather turned cold we realized that our heating system wasn't working so we called several companies for estimates on repairs. All of which charged a service fees for a diagnosis. Most would waive that charge if you hired them to make the repair.
Round the clock came out and told us that we had faulty valves on not one, but BOTH of our furnaces. They would need to be replaced to get it running again. The cost was $750 each.
We paid the serviceman $65.00 for the diagnosis and he left.
The next company to come out explained to us that to get our furnace running again we needed a new $25 part. He went as far to say that if he worked on commission he would probably say we needed a 'whole new valve!' We told him that had happened with another company who gave us an estimate and said exactly that. He said it happens alot with companies who's servicemen work on commission. He also said the diagnosis we'd been given was not necessary to make our furnace operate. It was above and beyond what was needed.He made the repair- parts and labor to both units for $300.
That is when and why we decided to stop payment on our check for what we feel was a fraudulant diagnostic by Round the Clock. This cost us $35 so it was no a move to save money. It was the only recourse we had at that point. When they found out there was a stop payment on the check, they sent us a bill for $15 to cover their costs at the bank! Which we have not paid. I have also reported them to the Better Business Bureau.
Unfortunately they are being dishonest when responding to our report charging them with unfair business practices so I don't think it will be resolved there.
