Complaint Review: Ascension Auto Svc - Tampa Florida

I am not another angry Impound Victim.  I would not go through the trouble of posting a complaint on the internet if I wasn't completely conned and treated disrespectively. This is how it went down. Any advice will be gladly taken.  Please see all the judgements against them. And the few "good" reviews are obviously written by employees of the company, people who they hire have miniscule intelligence and little conscience.  Spoke with another couple who were waiting on him, and heard about previous experience - Car towed because right tire was touching the yellow line. C'mon people!

I have been a resident of Tampa my whole life, and do enjoy the nightlife on occasion. My friend and I go out to this popular club/bar every once in a while, for the past 8 years. We are friends with the bartender, and aquaintances with the manager, and several staff members.  This bartender lives in the apartments nearby. We usually hang out after the club closes. As we arrived late, we parked in the visitor parking (Tons of available spaces left) as usual and met him inside. On our way in, we noticed a guy in the club parking lot, parked in the very closest space near the apartments. He watched us make our way in, smiling.  Looking back, I realized he was being paid by the towing co to be a "look out". 

After leaving, I called Ascension and was greeted by a girl who sounded no older than 15, obviously white with a ghetto accent. I confirmed my car was towed, got the spiel on the "cash only" yadda yadda. She was quick to get off the phone, and not helpful AT ALL.  I called her about 10 minutes later to inform her we were on our way, even confirming my current location heading there. Was told 10-15 minutes wait, she was making sure he'd be there.  The location is in seedy Drew Park. We past by it several times, NO visible sign posted in light where we could see in the darkness.  Pretty convienent, read cars get broken into while they are in their "secure" lot. Rickety, dirty run down straight out of a horror movie business.

 Arrived at 1:31 am. I CALLED TEN TIMES, no answering message. Just a "Leave a message after the beep".  On the 11th call, the girl answers, tells me it will be 10-15 minutes, her exact words "Um....I gotta see where's he at...cause...he could be in a different area.." Hangs up quickly. A couple pulls up, we get out and talk. She also informed them she was on her way. After waiting in the unlit, unsafe gravel side of the road for over an hour and a half the tow truck driver arrives. Gets out, opens gate, drives in, closes gate.

Does not acknowledge the five people waiting. When it was my turn, I kindly said "Excuse me Sir, my car was towed illegaly, my friend lives in the lot. I also informed your company I was on my way, and according to the Towing statue you must arrive within an hour or you'll be in violation."  I told him the name, address and apt number of my friend. He looked at me, grimy, with a look of indifference and his exact words were "Well f***in' sue me den."

He said he had no change on him, and when I asked how could I get my change, he shrugged and said " I don't know." I asked if I could come on Monday morning, to get my change, and if he could please put the amount I was giving him on the receipt, he shook his head and said "NO".  Before I signed the receipt, I asked him to put the current time on it. He acted like he didn't know what I was saying, but since I persisted, he did.  He told us to hurry our asses up or he was going to close the gate and we'd have to get off the property.  I was angry, but I believe in Karma.

Had the phone operator not been unproffesional, and had I been able to get a hold of her and not call several times, had the driver not used foul language and acted like a cold hearted a**hole, I wouldn't be posting this. I read on hillsclerk.c0m all the cases against the owner. Funny how they can never serve him papers. You must be an expert con artist, sitting on your pile of money, licking it with your forked tongue. Taking advantage of people, but judgement day will come, and all that money will never buy forgiveness.
