I signed up for pet insurance with ASPCA Pet Insurance about 8 yrs ago and have paid them every month. The policy automatically reniews in early December each year. My dog fell and broke a bone in her rear leg and damaged the ligiments. I took her to the vet on November 30th and had a claim filed with ASPCA' They partially covered this claim. Paid $193 of a bill of $250. The dog had to go back each week for further treatment and so far I have Paid over $500. ASPCA denied all these further claims as they happened after the aniversary date of the policy. I called 1-10-12 after discovering they were denying the claims and they offered no help saying that this is the way pet insurance works. The claims representative, Carmen, did not offer to let me talk to a supervisor when I told her to cancel the policy. She did verify some information and canceled the policy.

I have paid all these years for this  coverage to have peace of mind in knowing that my dog would be taken care of regardless of the money involved. This is not the case. Now I am on my own. This injury may cost up to $2000 by the time it's over. So much for peace of mind.
