My Aspire Visa Card program was also discontinued. I received notice the week of December 15th. Immediately I placed a call to get the details and to be assured that there would be no adverse effect on my credit rating. I have had this account for 6 years, have never been late for a payment or gone over my limit.

I was assured that I would be able to access my available credit until the 26th of December. I received my statement around the 18th, and it also showed available credit and had a statement at the bottom saying there would be NO annual fee charged since the program was discontinuing.

Well, lo and behold, when I went to use the card for Christmas shopping, I was told "transaction denied". So, I immediately called customer service, stayed on hold for 40 minutes to only hang up in frustration. When I checked online, I saw that I had indeed been charged an annual fee, using up the rest of my available credit, therefore, making it impossible for me to use the card for the rest of the time THEY told me I could.

This is extremely frustrating, and I can't help but think, it was done intentionally so that the available credit couldn't be accessed. Because trying to get the amount credited to the account will be a nightmare. Merry Christmas, huh?!

Yeah, they screwed you and me and several million others too! But I was told the annual fees were to be pro-rated and credited back for unused months...guess we will all have to wait and see on that being true or not. Surprised that the bank didn't try to sell our accounts to another bank.

ASPIRE CARDS ARE COLLECTION AGENCY SCAM

Some collection agencies offer people they are trying to collect a debt from that may or may not be owed by the person they made the offer to. If beyond statute of limitations - once you make that first payment to get the card - you have restarted the clock on this debt. They market it as a way to help your credit - when in fact it is an illegal tactic to re-age a debt - or make you pay something you never owed in the first place. Its nothing but a scam and probably the reason why they are discontinuing the card. This is what it says on www.budhibbs.com - A consumer advocate website that specializes in collections and exposes the illegal tactics collection agencies use to collect a debt that is no longer legally collectable. (Collection agencies do not want you to know about this site!) ASPIRE VISA MAJESTIC VISA EMBRACE VISA DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THEIR SCAM OFFER! IT STINKS, IT'S EXTREMELY COSTLY, IT WILL OBLIGATE YOU TO AN AGREEMENT THAT YOU MAY NOT EVEN OWE. THE FOLKS AT AND ASSOCIATED WITH JEFFERSON CAPITAL ARE KNOWN SCAM ARTISTS WHO PREY ON UNSOPHISTICATED CONSUMERS. DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM OF THIS SCAM.
