Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Just 9 days before Christmas I received this letter in the mail from Aspire "Notice of Termination of Card Program". Wow, I thought it clearly was some sort of mistake!

All I know I was a good customer who always paid my card in full 4-5 times a year usually in 1-2 payments. Initially I thought it was due to the falling economy, but after reading more and more reports on this website I realized this has been going on for some time.

When I contacted the company, which I never had to do before. It was the most frustrating experience I could have ever imagined. Then to top it all off the person I was trying to speak to didn't speak very good English and he understood it even less. The excuse he gave me was that the bank that Aspire was dealing with (Columbus Bank) was going out of business. That's it, no selling the accounts to other credit card companies so the card holder would not lose their credit card priviledges or anything. Just were dropping you and that's it.

Outside of being very angry, I feel exploited and used and what makes it even better is knowing they still will charge interest on any balances you may have and will continue to charge the regular monthly fees as long as you carry that balance. I was planning to pay the card off in a few days anyway to go into the new year w/o any balances on any of my cards, but out of my anger and sheer spite I feel like paying them the minimum balance each month from now until HELL freezes over and just eat the very expensive interest that will accrued on that!

All in all I guess what I am in search of is to find out is there anything that can be done in a case such as this? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Exact same situation! Millions of people got the same letter, millions have called in to ask whats going on and been told the same thing--we are all just **** out of luck! Theres nothing we can do, either pay it off or not pay it off! The bank is obviously in trouble.....whats curious though is that the Imagine Mastercard program goes to the same place as Aspire payments, so are they going to shut that card down as well? What about the "Annual Membership Fees" we pay just to carry these cards? Are they going to pro-rate these fees back to us? Personally, I plan to pay these bloodsuckers off ASAP!
