   A few months back I spoke to a rep (Kevin Kalley) on a policy for Assurant health.  I had Medica that was a retirement plan but seems every year it was getting too high.  I was on a computer with him following through steps of what policy would best suit me. His fraudulent statement was not true. I told him usually just have my yearly physical and mammogram.  I was told I would never see a bill and it was such a great policy he had it himself. Not only did I talk to him that day, I think I called him every day reassuring myself of this before cancelling my Medica that paid for everything. I guess the saying is true the grass is not always greener on the other side. Just had a physical and mammogram and now I am receiving bills for 700.00 dollars.

I just found out I need rotator cuff surgery and it will be a bill of 2700.00 dollars and Assurant Health is covering 1000.00 of that. They say they pay for the surgery but not the facility.  Did they expect me to have this done in the parking lot? Who in their right mind work purchase a policy without  hospitalization? NOT ME. Remember I had Medica . Beware of these reps that call you and promise the world but then when need your insurance the worlds has disappeared. I am totally depress and in serious pain and sitting her wondering where am I am supposed to get the money to cover this. DO NOT BY THIS INSURANCE NO MATTER HOW GREAT THEY SAY IT IS.

I just read the remarks of Ms. Johnson and I am appalled.  I have been a licensed agent in the state of Florida for over 12 years and have been in insurance over 25 years and have never had a complaint filed against me.  As Ms. Johnson said she did call every day after purchasing the policy, at least until she was ready to use it and then she did not call me or, as I instructed SEVERAL times, the Patient Care Helpline.  This helpline was set up by Assurant specifically to help policyholders make claims and instruct them how best to utilize their benefits.  Ms. Johnson obviously did not understand or care to do this.  She goes on to mention that she needs surgery that will cost $2700 and that Assurant will only pay $1000.  She further mentions her prior company Medica.  I did research on Medica in MN and the least expensive deductible option is $3050.  Assuming she had the lowest deductible (I think she had the $6100 but either way) her out of pocket expense with Medica would be the entire $2700 cost of the surgery.  With Assurant it would $1700 before any repricing.  Meaning worst case scenario Ms. Johnson would have benefited by $1000 with the Assurant Health Access plan.  I said worst case scenario because Assurant has another service for its policyholders called Health Payment Advocates that will negotiate any bill over $300 typically reducing it by 50-100%.  Again had Ms. Johnson properly utilized her benefits and her policy or even called her agent (she obviously knew the number), she would have had no reason to go on and rant here about the policy and flat out lie about agent.  It is my sincere hope that Ms. Johnson will call me and I will still attempt to help her even after her lies and slanderous remarks.  I further hope this will not impede my ability to provide consumers with an affordable health insurance option with a quality insurance company or hinder my ability to provide for my family.  If you do not contact Ms. Johnson then all I can do is wish you the best of luck and I hope you understand what is written here.
