AT & T Digital Broadband ripoff deceptive company Rancho Cucamonga California
In June, 2001, AT & T Digital Broadband hit our City! Since I was looking for a quicker hookup to the internet, and I THOUGHT AT & T was a reliable company - I listened to the sales pitch. What sold me was their offer to provide me with Unlimited Local Calls for $25/month and that the entire state of California would be considered Local. This offer was good until June 2002. Since this would save me approximately 100-$150 per month, I agreed to have it installed. From the moment they left, trouble began. I could NEVER get hooked up to the internet. I spent hours upon hours talking with their "experts", and got nothing but the run around. I was very surprised (& annoyed)when in November, 2001, I received notification that they would be "pulling out" of our area and to call them to schedule removal of their equipment AFTER we have arranged alternate service. When I called to inquire as to why they were breaking their contract (agreement) with me, they indicated there was no contract. Funny, I have a piece of paper signed by them and me acknowledging what they will give me in exchange for me paying them for the service - I THINK that's a contract! I also asked them if they were going to compensate me for the savings I will loose because they are not honoring their service agreement of $25/month for local calls. I could never get a straight answer. Well, the whole switch over was a nightmare, and now we are being harrassed by them to get their equipment. Their letter indicated they would come out at MY convenience, but when I wanted to schedule evening or Sunday appointments (due to work) they wouldn't do it. I did schedule three appointments (all of which were broken), before they finally came out a 4th time (an appointment I DID NOT schedule). They wanted to take the equipment, but I would not allow it until the damage to my home was repaired (holes in wall, painting, etc.) I did send a letter of demand on February to the company, but it has remained unanswered. The service man said I should go ahead and have the repairs done and send AT & T the bill - but I told him that wasn't going to happen - because they could simply ignore or disallow the bill. They have asked me to get a repair estimate and send it to them, but I will not do any of the repair until I have a check from them to the contractor in hand (I don't want any unpaid work to cause a lein on my property). I would love join a class action suit against them - anyone else??
