I was a loyal AT&T customer for three years and I had two phone lines with these idiots. Some of my cell bills exceeded $300 a month, but I never complained and always paid on time. When I finally decided to leave for another carrier, I was told that an "early termination fee" applied to both lines!

"How could this be?", I asked. I was told by a CSR who knew less about cellular service than I did, that I had purchased a phone for $49.95 and had thereby obligated myself to two more years. Only problem is that I was never told that purchasing this phone obligated me. If I had been told, I never would have bought it. What's more, that was the second time they extended my contract without telling me, the first being after my original 12-month contract, when they were nice enough to extend me for two years with no nights and weekend minutes, and then had the gall to tell me that it was at my request!

Anyway, I refused to pay the early termination fee and the debt was sent to collections. I hope they know that everybody I knew who was with AT&T has either already left or is shopping for other carriers as I type. Word of mouth is a powerful weapon.
