I signed up with AT&T for a bundle package sometime last year. I was told that if we cancel that we would be charged a termination fee. No problem there, I understood that. At no time did they mention or give me any literature that stated that even changing the type of package would generate that termination fee.

I called in December of 2007 to decrease the price of my package. I did not want to cancel the bundle, only decrease the amount of the price. The CS rep said, oh I will do this and this to your local phone line and it will decrease the price of your package. At no time did she state she was canceling the bundle when doing this. I even asked her if this would cause any fees and she stated no.

Well whatever she did caused my bill to pretty much double and also caused them to put on a $225.00 termination fee. It was attached to the Dish part of my bill. I didn't cancel my dish! I called and for 3 months they kept telling me that because I didn't cancel my Dish or anything on my account as a matter of fact they were going to take off the fee. For 3 months these people would tell me this!

Finally one day some supervisor calls me and tells me that she is making a final decision that because I changed my bundle package she considered that termination and will not remove the fee. I was stunned. So I figured that if they were going to charge me a $225.00 termination fee for cancelling Dish, which of course I didn't cancel, then I was going to cancel it and not pay anymore money to them.

Well I called and they proceeded to tell me that it was a termniation fee for the bundle and if I cancel the dish they will charge me ANOTHER $240.00 for cancelling Dish and then they would charge me $175.00 per cell phone line if we cancelled those which we have 2. So let me get this straight, this company charges you $225.00 for changing your bundle, $240.00 for cancelling your Dish and another $175.00 per phone line?

I am filing a complaint with the FCC and get this, they can't tell me which supervisor called me. They don't have notes with names on them, only user numbers so that way, they don't have to provide you with who you talked to!!

It's funny because Time Warner Cable warned me about these people. I didn't listen. TWC doesn't have any cancellation fees and contracts because they don't need them. They have honest people and services that will keep you there as a customer. I find it funny that AT&T has to force you with threats of hundreds of dollars for fees for EVERYTHING to pretty much blackmail you into staying there. And then they provide one web page of terms and services that doesn't even explain it in human terms so you can understand it.

I have never had such a bizarre and horrible experience in my life with a company. Reading online has confirmed to me that there are hardly any customers satisfied with this company. I have had to call EVERY single month and have them fix my bill because even on the bundle, they can't get it right.

What do they say about putting all of your eggs in one basket? I was wondering about all that "bundle" crap that AT&T is advertizing. That's sad but funny about hitting you up for a termination fee on each one of your services with AT&T. Why is it that AT&T's business was up 68% last year with the economy going down the tubes? Read an article in the business section this morning, how they were paying the CEO of AT&T 22 MILLON in salary and benefits in 2007. Now we know how and I'm sure he appriciates your contribution.
