Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I first called AT&T U-verse in december of 2012 to set up my service, or transfer it to my new apartment for January 2013.

They came and set up my wireless modem with a free dvr and 2 other boxes as promised.  I called to confirm a few weeks later and found out that the HD the tech had suggessted as he left cost ($40?/month) so I took it off.   My bill was still about $79 too high so I asked them to apply the code they forgot.  They said they would,  and lo and behold. Next month the same problem.  The same promise to 'fix the problem'.  The third month the same thing happened but this time they gave me $ off the internet and $ off the 300 channel servce.  Now this month, 4 months later, my bill is still too high.

The bottom linei is that they have no intention of locking a consumer into a given price for a year.  They have many methods of making your bill go up, for instance though I have discounts, the base price of my services has gone up.

It's important to note that they train their customer service agents to act as though they are working hard to help a consumer but they could only lower my bill to $88/month for internet and basic local channels cable to avoid a one time fee of $15/month for the remaining months of my 'contract' .  This would amount to 11 months because they finally locked me into the contract in march (I've had service since january mind you).  This contract did not guarantee me a price per month.  The contract locks me into a profit per month for ATT.  I remember when contracts locked prices though the 'customer service person I talked to pretended to not understand what I was asking, which was why is my  price still too high, and going up, when I had a 'contract'??????

So I am upset, feel trapped, and feel frustrated.  It appears to me that american businesses are not about the consumer but about millions of dollars in profit at the consumer's expense.  These are clearly bait and switch tactics, the customer service reps clearly have  been trained to calm you down by offering you essentially nothing, and I believe tihs is because of the corporate culture in america that lets corporations, like people, rip us off without recompense.  I'm old enough to remember when there was less greed and dishonesty in our culture and if there is a lawsuit against AT&T I would love to participate in such a lawsuit.  I hold out little hope, though, because this kind of greed seems to control our culture and our country and certainly corporate greed runs the government.
