I, too, was a victim of the Audiofile ripoff back in 2001.
I was on my way to do a Cutco demonstration, and I noticed everything I said, the guy would go back to something along the lines of me buying the speakers, which is something we try to do with Cutco (but we're not deceptive!)
He wanted $500 at first, but I told him I was a college student and didn't have that type of money. Eventually he loaded the speakers, himself, into my car, and I didn't know what to do. I went ahead and drove to the nearest bank and got $350 - he wanted more, but I gave him my card and told him to contact me. That is something he never did.
I assume the speakers don't work after reading these reports. I never tried listening to them because I don't have proper equipment, but after inspecting the speakers, it looks as if they should work.
