Aurora Loan Service Aurora paid a disputed back tax amount to my city without proyor notification, while I was attempting to correct amount due. My regular monthly mortgage amount was aways paid in advance of due date. Littleton Colorado
I had a disputed amount being charged by the city for taxes they claimed due. I was in contact with the city comptroller while attempting to correct the property assessment amount. The comptroller suggested I pay a portion of back taxes, which I did while waiting for the outcome of my new assessment. I was well aware, prior to Aurora's claim that they informed me in June '08 that they knew of taxes due.
When the new taxes became due in January '09, I received a regular mailed letter informing me that Aurora paid the disputed amount of $28,914.21, to the city, and demanded that I pay, (including/in addition to my regular mortgage payment) $5,000. per month for one year towards satisfying the debit. I immediately phoned Aurora to inquire why I was not notified before they paid any amount and was rudely told, "six months prior, a letter was sent". Had I received notice of the schedule Aurora was prepared to pay prior to satisfy the taxes, I could have informed them of my pending actions, verified it by the city comptroller, and avoided this circumstance.
Subsiqently, after reviewing those taxes and penalties paid by Aurora with the city comptroller, it became apparent that the amounts paid by Aurora were based upon the old tax schedule before the new adjustments went on the books.
During these desperate economic times, the additional strain of the amount Aurora is suggesting I pay is absurd. It could very well put me into foreclosure on my property. While I maintained my monthly mortgage since its conception without any indebtedness, this action could very well destroy my ability to pay regular future payments and ultimately cause me to lose my home.
Does Aurora want to add another foreclosure to the millions across this country hoping they will benefit somehow with a government bailout?
