Aurora Loan Services Ripoff fight for payoff to the death Aurora Colorado
My father secured a loan to repair his home in 1986 after he sustained substantial flood damage. This loan is administered by Aurora Loan Service in Aurora Colorado.
After a few years, my bother and I asked him why he didn't pay off the loan to avoid the interest, since he had the money available. He told us he couldn't get the information. We couldn't believe it.
In late 2003, my 84-year old father came to live with me, now in ill-health. I started working on his finances and started my quest to get a loan pay-off balance from Aurora in April, 2004. There is no way to talk to a human being at Customer Service, even after waiting on hold for 20-30 minutes each time. After that wait, I was asked to leave a message with my FAX number to receive pay-off balance, which I did three times. NO response. I sent a check for the full amount of the principle; they sent it back because a certified check in the pay-off balance is required ... "to get your balance, call our Customer Service Department"!!! Back to square one. I wrote two letters, NO reponse.
My father passed away in July. He was right when he told us he couldn't get this information and I'm glad he gave up on this many years ago; he would have had a heart attack from frustration. The battle continues, as we return their nasty notices of "late payment" with handwritten notes in increasingly large letters asking for the Pay-off balance. NO Response. This is now holding up the entire settlement of my father's estate. I was looking for the name of a Senior executive of Aurora Loan Service, which of course I cannot find, when I stumbled accross this website.
Maybe this does not qualify as a "ripoff" per se, but Aurora Loan Service must certainly qualify as having about the worst customer service in the US. At least it feels a little better to let off a little steam.
