Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I worked for auto rescue of miami, and inmans auto rescue of miami,(worst mistake of my life!!!!) I used my personal vehichle to do roadside assistance, using my own money for all gas and tools that were needed to do the jobs, I had a 1997 ford f150 i was using when I first started and eventually drove it into the ground, so had to get another vehichle to continue work but in mean time Jonathon Coffey would talk down to me asking why I havent rented a car to work ( dont pay enough to rent car and cover bills!) asking why Im not using a friends car or mom's ( friends dont let friends run there cars into the ground for free either!)  I eventually got another vehichle and got back to work.

My new/used car was a 2001 pontiac aztek which unknown to me when I bought the car had problems that needed to be taken care of, like it kept overheating, I pumped all extra funds I had into the pontiac to get it running and it eventually blew up, so I did not quit my roadside assistance job with auto rescue of miami and never heard that I had been fired but Jonathan Coffey 1 week after returning equipment to him has still refused to give me my last pay check. I have followed all guidelines in contract that was signed when I was hired, it states that last pay check will be given within 48 hours of returning equipment, well it's been 3 weeks! I have on numerous occasions this past three weeks sent text messages, phone calls and voice mails asking Jonathon Coffey when I will be getting my last pay, also stating to him that the money is for my rent, he did send back one text at begining of all of this stating that my rent is not his problem and then went on to say how much of an A@@hole he is!! (how is it not his problem when I worked for his company and his company owes me money?) He will not return my calls or texts.

Just goes to show how well auto rescue of miami and Jonathon Coffey cares for his employees and there families... I have a reciept that Jonathon Coffey owner or Auto rescue of Miami signed stating that all equipment had been returned, that is over a week old. I have worked for many people over the years some great some terrible but Jonathon Coffey owner of Auto Rescue of Miami takes the cake on the worst person I have ever worked for!!!, what kind of boss tells his employees to spend there whole paycheck on a rental car so that Jonathon Coffey can still get his money from the calls you do!!!! A smarter person if they really wanted there employee to work would have offered to help fix the car that is broken or rent them a vehichle, but no with Jonathon Coffey it's "Why wont your mom help you by using her car, or your friends"!!!!! what a piece of work Jonathon Coffey is, lol most people only have one car and 9 times out of 10 they need it to work to. Also Jonathon Coffey is Heartless I explained that I needed my pay to pay rent that was due on 1st he know's I have a 5 yr old daughter and am struggling to raise her and still says not his problem and I need to man up to my responsibilities, well it is hard own up to my own responsibilities when someone like Jonathon Coffey steps in and screws everything up!!! Someone needs to take there own advice and be a man and own up to the responsiblity of paying there employees the money they owe them!!!! Oh and he makes you sign on as an Independent Contractor Ive got news for you and him when you report to one company, that one company tells you when to go oncall and offcall also that one company pays you not ten other companies you are not considered an independent contractor you are an employee of that company! An independant sub contractor gets paid by multiple companies not just one and noone can tell an Independent cantractor when he needs to be on the job or not!!! There is a very famous case in south Fl about an aerobics instructor whom had signed on to be an independent contractor but being as she was paid by the one company, she ultimatly was an employee not independent sub.!!! Auto Rescue of Miami falls into this grey area of Independent subs and employee's cause your getting paid from one company auto rescue of miami, they tell you when your oncall and tell you where to go you are an employee and you can file for unemployment!!!! Im hopeing someone reads this before going to work for this scam company and saves them the hassle that I am going through, I decided to post this after reading another complaint about the same company, same situation, I want to know if his issue was ever resolved? I am currently speaking with attorneys and am going to file civil suit not only for past due pay but for mental distress over the matter ive been to shrink and anger management three times this week already and had to get perscribed Xanax in order to relax!!! never been on drugs before in my life, but nearly had nervous breakdown when landlord showed up with sherriffs and I had to convince him to give me more time all thanx to JONATHON COFFEY and AUTO RESCUE OF MIAMI! ****UPDATE, 3 WEEKS AND STILL NO RESPONSES OR CHECK******* AND LIVING AT FRIENDS MY DAUGHTER IS WITH MY MOM AND HE HAS OFFICIALLY MADE MY LIFE COMPLETLY MISERABLE AND FLIPPED MY WHOLE LIFE FOR ABSOLUTLY NO REASON! THANX AUTO RESCUE!

I worked in Lewisville at the "corporate office'.. Inman's is a BAD Employer

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

I worked in Lewisville, TX at the corporate office. This company is run by the Inman Family, with Mike Inman at the head. I know the guy is trying to build his dream and all and I give him the benefit of the doubt, but his trouble's come from having his children, cousins, aunts and uncles, friends of family try to run this business and none have any managerial experience at all. Some of them, I highly doubt, even graduated high school. Yet they hold large titles, VP this and that. This is not the time to have inexperienced staff and a bunch of nepotism when you're trying to grow. His story is admirable though.. They say he built the company from his kitchen table. I think now is a great time (with Inman's auto growing) for him to bring in outside help. Highly experienced, top of the line help.

When I was hired they drilled it into us that no cell phones were allowed on the floor and no eating. Apparently someone from an insurance company (some big wig) was walking through the company and tripped over someone's purse so the company made that a rule. Well, I saw people eating and with their cell phones and bags, etc. We had just been told these were things that could cause automatic termination. Now get this.. this is where the nepotism comes in. As I mentioned most of the folks are related and or have known each other from childhood. They "KNOW" they "WON'T" be fired. No. Not at all. All of those rules apply to other people. Not to members of the inside crowd even when they sit right beside you and do the exact same job you do.

The pay is very, very low. When I was at Inman's they had a difficult time keeping drivers and finding motivated drivers. I read somewhere that drivers get paid $12 dollars per call? That is ridiculously low pay for all of that wear and tear on your vehicle especially with gas prices being what they are. They had drivers that would sign up to work and then not answer their phone. Not respond to texts. Simply become unreachable. They had drivers that would take an hour to get to their calls. Even if the person was right next to them. They had drivers who were so broke they were letting their insurance lapse. They were even using drivers who had expired vehicle insurance! Even though the insurance companies mandated that the drivers had to be INSURED!

And yes.. they were firing drivers LEFT and RIGHT.

The issue with Inman's Auto (and many Texas Companies) is that they are great at underbidding competitors to win massive contracts, however that comes at a COST. It gets difficult to keep motivated workers. Money is a great incentivizer. People know when they are working for rock bottom wages. You will have a high turnover when the pay is not very good. People tend to, overtime, worry less and less about losing the job. When they can find another (fast food, etc.) that pays just as much. Honestly this is how people think. Ever hear someone say that "you get what you pay for"? Well, you do. You can't expect someone who is as focused and motivated as a $40,000 dollar worker for a buck or two over minimum wage. Especially when they know so many other jobs out there pay the same.

Companies like Inman's where the family runs everything prefer having people they 'know' on a personal level hold high positions and plan logistics than hiring outsiders who actually have experience and better qualifications.

On the plus side its an extremely comfortable environment there. All pants, tshirts, sandals. The starting pay was $9 per hour there for dispatchers but the inside group of course was paid more.

You have to watch these folks on your pay however. They will try to take a portion of it. Illegally. Don't trust them.

Dear Inman's Auto Rescue.  While I appreciate your response that managment has changed and you have gotten rid of people, you are far far far from perfect.  In most of the states you operate you are doing so illegally by attempting to pass this position off as 1099 when it does not come close to meeting that criteria.  As a result of classifying your EMPLOYEES inappropriately as 1099 you get out of paying payroll taxes, worker's comp, etc...   Furthermore, in states like Ohio, you are responsbile for paying sales tax on the tire changes you perform -- you do none of this.

You are in bed with companies like AGERO, Inc (Medford, MA) because you come in and low ball your price and the only way you can do that is by not paying the things you are suppose to be paying.

If you really want to see here and tell us how great things are, level the playing field and pay what you should be.  I gurantee you cannot compete on anything other than price.

Nonetheless, all good things will come to an end.

I believe the person posting this is Jonathan or one of his family members.
Which is fine and dandy considering they were the ones running the market for Florida.

But I, as a current dispatcher for Auto Rescue am proud to announce that Mike Inman, the OWNER of Inman's Auto Rescue has since FIRED Jonathan and his entire family. So you can post stuff talking down on other people and saying you are where you are today because you work hard and you follow all the rules but that is not true one bit.

Not only are you gone, but we are now dispatching the calls in your place so I know first hand what you have done to drivers and I know that it will never happen again.

I'm not saying auto rescue is perfect in any way shape or form so please don't take this wrong, there are mistakes and there are many things management can improve on but it is a lot better without Jonathan being in charge.

I have worked for the company for over a year now and have gotten a good relationship with a lot of my drivers. I know for a fact they get extra gas when they have to go far, I have had 3 drivers in the past 6 months have their vehicle break down and Mike Inman himself has paid for the repairs and just taken 20-50 out of the drivers paycheck every week until it was paid off. He takes care of his drivers and us dispatchers LOVE to help the drivers however we can. YES drivers only get paid $12 a call, and $6 for a GOA and yes you have to use your own car and pay your own gas but the new leaders are making a difference and it is getting better for the drivers. I personally take a lot of time out of my day to make sure my drivers are taken care of-no happy driver= no one willing to take a call for me, which is not okay because that makes my day a lot harder!!

This Jonathan guy is no longer with the company, he was bought out so he no longer has any ownership of the company and a new Lead Tech has taken his position.

So let me get this straight, this employee uses his own car, breaks down, no help from the employer. Your managerial advice to an employee that has poor credit as you described (you do know that a sub 600 score and you're not going to get any car), and rental companies require a credit card.  to CLEAR 75 measly dollars a day, an as an independant contractor, will have to pay a rather large percentage of his pay to the tax man?

Most certainly this business model seems flawed, or is taking advantage of the somwhat lower class of society who is ill informed of their rights ( you cannot keep an employees last check for ANY reason in most states, if he keeps equipmant, that is a civil matter), or just plain milking the struggling person for all they are worth to your company. Perhaps you should change that model, because if you get the wrong one who refuses to be treated not in accrodance with the laws and labor regulations, i hope you have banked alot of that money, cause you wont be in business long.

Poor Derrick

#8REBUTTAL Individual responds

Thu, September 22, 2011

I remember when Derrick applied for the roadside assistance position.  He said anything and everything he could to get a job.  He was bouncing from job to job working for "cash" when he could.  I believe that everyone deserves a chance to change and succeed in life.  I am in the position I am in becasue I did not blow my chance. I answered an add in the news paper just like everyone else and worked hard to feed my family.  I follow the rules and have never asked anyone to do more than i would or have.  Derrick was finnaly let go and of no use to Auto Rescue because he never returned a phone call. He dissapeared.  he never let anyone know what was going on or what happened to him. When word finally came several weeks later, i belive jail was involved.  But i do not care what people do in their own personal time.  i do care when what they do can cause someone else to loose their job.  Derrick, you had potential, but it is easy to walk away when you do not hold yourself accountable for your actions. And yes, if a driver's car breaks down, i will recommend that they rent a car.  If (on the very low end) make $100 a day and a rental costs $25 (about 2.5 calls not including tips).  You make $75 profit before other expenses.  Your profit pays for things like food, rent, diapers, etc.  Sitting at home complaining about how unfair life is pays how much again? Something is better than notheing when you have responsability or others depending on you.

This job is very easy to do, but not everyone can do it. Only those with strong ethics and self management can stay the course.  As far as your cars, Auto Rescue did not run them into the ground. You did by buying them in their broken state. You just simply bought someone else's problem.  Your truck was a gas guzzler before you started work with Auto Rescue and was breaking down repeatedly. You made the promise of getting a better vehicle.  I was proud of you when you finally got one.  I told you to buy new.  You chose to buy a car from an individual without knowing anything about it.  You made that choice.  All the money you put into your broken down cars, you could have purchased a new one.  I know from experience.  I know your credit is bad, but again, whos fault is that.  You don't have money to rent a car.  I suggest asking around to maybe borrow so that you stop loosing money and i'm the bad guy?  That's fine.  I can be the bad guy.  It is so much easier to blame someone else, then to take ownership of your mistakes and choices.

I enforce the rules given to me and my position to keep EVERYONE working, not just myself.  By the way, did you tell everyone that your check was held because your did not want to turn in the equipment owed to the company for three weeks, and that you had damaged cars that you were responsable to fix? i didn't think so. Keep playing the victim.  You get what you give.  Auto Rescue is made up of people who help others.  It is not one person. If it really did business the way you describe, then we would be like all those other shut down companies that we replaced.  We have a responsability to the people that are stranded and helpless. Very few can put the needs of others ahead of their own.  The ones that can i will be more than glad to put to work and watch out for to make sure they are profitable.  The ones that can't, i can not afford to waist time one because i have to focus on the others.  As i told you and everyother ex driver, i will pray for you and may GOD help you in your life.
