I bought a timeshare in Acapulco two years ago. I was told I could use my week in Cancun, Islas Mujeres or Panama. The contract is in Spanish. I found out in March of this year (when I wanted to reserve a week for my niece's honeymoon in Cancun) that the timehare is to be used on even years only and since I did not traveled last year I lost that week unless I paid a fee to reinstated which I did in March. (Of course I paid and send my niece to Cancun).

On July I called Avalon Acapulco to reserve a week (free week received when I bought the timeshare) I was told that the resort staff was on strike so I could not book my week. I called Avalon Cancun and had lots of trouble booking my week ( I had to book within 30 days of traveling) Finally I got a week at Cancun Aug.4 to Aug. 11.

Cancun City is great but the resort was no near to what I was shown at Acapulco at the time of sale. The staff seem to be under stress and not enough staff. The 1 bedroom had no stove, or dishes only a small frig, microwave, coffemaker, blender and toaster. No elevator, room did not get cleaned unless I asked. Pool activities were never on schedule. Everyting wasd too expensive.

The bottom part is that I ended up paying extra for this years vacation and not happy about the service. I beleive that all this has to do with the arrest of Mike Kelley. I encountered several people downtown talking about Mike Kelley and how they feel they were ripped off too.

Promise to rent out their timeshare weeks as a financial investment and to pay off the membership. Avalon is one of the most timeshare scams.
