our son started when he was around 11 years of age he got work quickly after we did photo shoot and 100 comp cards. We paid 400.00 for all this, he got call for music video. He got standin position. We also submitted his cards to other agencies and he is with three talent agencies. He still gets calls from at least one of them. He is the one that turn down work these days. He did back to school commercial, more music videos, print work and etc. Like someone said you do have to call in every week, send letters with comp cards to see what other talent agencies will accept you or your child. One of his commercials had residual. This commercial came from one of the other two agencies.

I also got riped off from AVE Productions. I payed $1200.00 for comp cards, totally crappy and if you complain about the quality, they don't want to hear it. You can through the $1200 right into the garbage, it will save at least your time for the fotoshoot. All that you get from them are unprofessional comp cards for a lot of money, nothing else, not even the pictures. I only can warn you, don't be so stupid and fall for it unless you don't know what to do with your money. AVE makes money with the foto shoots, they don't help you to get casted. Every photographer makes better comp cards for much less money.
Actually everything that you find in a Mall, is a rip off. Glamour shots is the same, with the difference that you get better pictures, I paid $320.00 for 2 pictures, but at least I have something for my money where I can work with.

I have had the same expirience with Avenue Production. My daughter went for an interview in their office, was sold on the comp cards and to be online for $ 1000, every month I called their check in line, brought them more comp cards and in one year we did not receive one phone call for a casting. I would not be upset if my daughter would have had the chance to go to a casting and not make it there, but not to be called once is pretty bad, knowing that there is so many castings in our area. The way they make their money is with the comp cards, which no other agency will even consider because of the bad quality. I have a box full of cards which we can't use. Yesterday I made a general comment on their facebook page which was not rude, and within 2 minutes the comment was deleted as well as I was removed from their fan page. This company is a scam and should be put out of business before more girls get scamed into spending a lot of money.

Not a ripoff. Maybe for you but not for me and a lot of other people I meet on set of movies, tv series, and commercials. I am called almost every week for either a movie or a casting. The reason I and so many other get called is because there is 2 things they require of you after receiving your comp cards and signing a non-exclusive contract. 1 You must call every month into the check-in line with your name, # and age (this is simply to remind them of you. You are not the only model or actress!) and 2 you must send 15-20 comp cards every month. Not to hard, but I find that when people complain about this company they failed to do those things, and expect to be first on line when it comes time for casting. Also if you are being called you MUST be on time. This requires a lot of flexability and if you don't have the time nor the means to get to the job why spend the money. That would be your problem not Ave Productions. Alot of the jobs are in South Florida not in St Lucie County, so if you didn't think you turned down a offer because it was too far and couldn't make it, well Ave has to get the job filled. If you are maybe complaining about the time frame they give you before a job, thats how it is everywhere, so get used of it. 1 day notice everywhere, once again not their problem. Also, when it comes to being paid for job, on time everytime! Gotten paid everytime! Just wanted to clear any possible arguement you might've had with them. It sound like since you are having issues with Barbizon (which is a highly reputable company) and Avenue looks like you are the common denominator). I would highly recommend Avenue Productions and love all their employees. They are so curteous and kind.

So here's how the scam goes. "Open casting call all types, ages, sizes" call pam or some other 3 letter name so that Avenue knows where they are getting their "hits" from. Their open call is a hotel or what-have-you. They pretend to go through a screening process. Then it's " Oh you have a great look -- but you need headshots, comp cards, Fill in the blank. We can set you up with a photographer ( Staff photographer or someone who comes on Saturdays and a make-up artist ( Usually receptionist/ make-up artist.) They then shoot pictures outside the "agency" may be in the parking lot or somewhere close-by. Then they sell you as many "comp cards as they can -- and throw mostof them in the trash. They tell everyone they have a "great look." They just want the dollars. A good agency only takes your money when you book a job. This so-called agency makes the majority of their money from photo-shoots. Then they rarely if ever call -- they don't get the really good castings -- oh maybe some extra work -- which you can get with a snapshot or at most a headshot. Do yourself a favor and hire a " real" photographer -- and check out their work online. If you want to be an actor get a decent headshot taken by a photographer knows industry standards. If you want to do print work then you will need a comp card. Don't pay to go to model conventions or open calls. Research online and check out the agencies. And when you encounter an agency that wants money upfront run the other way. Avenue Productions is one big scam. I should know -- I saw their business model from the inside out.
