First of all a University is a school made up of different colleges. AXIA is a college of the University of Phoenix. If you cant or dont want to pay cash for school, Financial Aid is an option, as is Tuition Reimbursement(the TR you didn't understand) or Direct bill(for compinies that choose to pay that way) or GI bill. You may be eligable for a grant but they are need bassed. The main grant we work with is a Federal Pell grant. If the counselor spoke about a grant, you assumed it was the Cal Grant which most likely is for going to a school in California. Go see what it costs to go to Cal State for a year and it is much more than the $8320 a school year for AXIA. But you may get the Cal Grant. If you wanted a cheap education go to a Comunity College not a University. Sounds like you want a Hummer for the cost of a Kia. If you didn't get the extra free money you were looking for then you didn't qualify for it. The US government makes that decision not AXIA. Where do you get the idea school is free? Or worse yet that you get PAID to go to school. Any US citizen that is not in default of a previous student loan, not a convicted drug felon, males that registered with selected service and in most cases filed their taxes last year is eligable for Title IV financial aid. Whats your problem? In closing AXIA is the cheapest and best choice for working adults that cant spend all day at a campus.

I read your experience with U of P and I have to say, I've been a student with them for 3 years and the only bad thing I can say is they are expensive. It sounds like you misunderstood what they were telling you, which is very easy if you don't know about how the financial aide process works. You automatically are approved for a certain amount in loan money no matter what your income is. As for grant money, that does depend on your income and this pays for your books. You should not write a ripe off report for an accredited university because of your own misunderstanding. University of Phoenix has been great with me and also my brother who achieved his Bachelors degree. They are a great Univeristy to go to if you want to be recognized with employers!

You will need to contact Sallie Mae or go to the website. http://www.salliemae.com/ You can register online with SallieMae to check the status of your loans and you can stop your loans by submitting a request explaining that you no longer will be attending AXIA College of UOP. This way no more loan money will go to that college. Good luck to you.
