I was searching for online classes and Axia was the first one to call. What started off as just getting information lead into registering with this college.

The first of many "counselors" called me and emailed me. I told the counselor that I just wanted some information about how the course work, what would be expected of me and of course how much $$$.

I was very honest and told the representative that I did not have college money saved. I work full-time with a spouse and two small children. But I knew in order to find a better job or promotion, I would need a college degree.

So, the rep. tells me the college offer financial aid to met my situation. He told me that the government would assist me. So, what does Axia do? Enroll me and set up my first block of classes without securing a loan for financial aid.

Well I shortly figured out that Axia College sets on up to fail, unless you do not work or have contact with any humans.

I told members of the staff that this would not work for me and I stress myself out until I just felt like giving up and cutting my losses. Well Axia's plan B was, ENROLL me the same classes or block AGAIN. Meanwhile I was not given any secured way of paying for these courses.

During the courses, I can not tell how many problems I had with posting assignments, or maybe something did not post because of connection problems.

While I am knee deep in fees, the financial person calls to "get things going" with financial aid which was supposed to be based on my income. Well then I find out that they need my spouses information, copies of filed taxes, just more paperwork. Because I was not able to give them what the wanted, I was sent to a collection agency. I am paying and in collections for the same clases twice that I did not complete.

I am not upset that I did not have money saved for college like some people are quick to point out. I just believe that I mislead to believe that even someone in my situation could receive a higher education. I want to clear up my anger with Axia College. I believe that if they had a better system, I would have had a better chance at completing the courses.

Trouble With Axia College

I too am having problems with Axia. I am currently in my third, and final, block. I am a cash paying student and had requested 9 weeks off after my current block to take care of family matters. I had every intention of returning, until I received an email from my counselor. Although previously he had stated that the break would be fine, he was now telling me that he could only allow me to take 3 weeks off and would require that I return mid February. This sounded extremely suspicious to me and I have since further my investigation of this college. How can a counselor dictate when a cash paying student can and can't attend classes? I have decided that I will no longer waist my money on a sub-par education with a for profit organization and hope that others who read my post will take this warning seriously. Please note the following forum with posts from current and previous Axia instructors, it is very enlightening. http://www.adjunctnation.com/forums/read.php?52,1860,page=3 (I, of course, take everything on the internet with a grain of salt, but the evidence is overwhelming)

So basically what your saying is you were some how suckered into going to a college you thought would be a breeze, and now your mad because it cost you money and it wasn't? Pretty much every post I've seen bashing UOP is because people thought it would be easy, then halfway down people say its a halfass school. Pick one or the other here. I have had good teachers, and a good all around experience at the school. Did I require financial aid? No, I planned ahead for that cost, to avoid the hassle your now complaining you had. Financial Aid is always a hassle, its paperwork. I work full-time and have plent of contact with humans, I'm passing my degree program. If you can't do it, then don't say you want a degree! It's not their fault you stressed yourself out, or wait I guess they stressed you out huh. Lastly, the problems with posting assignments are your computers or interenet connections fault, not a universities, they offer free 24/7 tech support which you won't find at any other school, who were always willing to help. Also, if you contact them with a problem they can give you a reference number for your teacher, so you don't get docked for it being late, or did you just get frustrated and never call? Lastly, you then following up the whole thing by saying after they didn't give you financial aid, they tried to help you and you didn't give them what they wanted. But, your complaining they sent you to a collection agency.
