BACK in the BRONX selectively edits postings to its forums & threads & bans those whose views it rejects and plays favorites. A good example is the case Of Nora Manon of the Catskills. BITB refused to publish my rebuttal of this woman's accusations about me as seen below
Norie Manon does not have to block me, as I have no intention of writing to her again. There is no need to. I tried for days to get this insane dispute settled in a couth and civilized manner, but that is not her style, nor that of her friends. I had hoped to avoid making use of BITB for putting my side of the story, but Norie has called me a liar in a very public way. I am no liar, and, unlike Ms Manon, I have not threatened legal action.
This whole feud is a sorry end to a friendship with her and one other person that had flourished since I first started posting in this forum. One week ago, Norie asked me to join her private chatroom KIDS FROM THE BRONX. I agreed. She gave me the url, and I engaged. I found the rules sensible. I posted an article on the Bronx accent that got a few replies. But I did notice that most forums had not received a posting in days, and I wondered how large the membership the site had. I clicked the appropriate icon and found the membership very small, maybe 15. Most of the names were unknown to me. But I did note the omission of people I would have included. Why in the world did she invite me? I take the Graucho Marx to private clubs.
I decided to register, and this is where the fun began. No matter how many times I tried even with the help of my computer savvy wife, I could not get the reading of the CONFIRMATION CODE right, and each time I had to start from scratch, needing to fill in the form in toto, over & over again. I sought the assistance of the ADMINISTRATOR and up came a blank e-mail addressed to
[email protected]but no reply came to my SOS. After one day, I sent a private note to Norie via BITB stating the problem and expressing my extreme annoyance. To my dismay, she shot back an extremely hostile, very unhelpful reply. In my next posting to her website, I described the difficulties I was having registering. To which Norie posted on-line, Stuart, be careful. Never one to let a cheap gag pass by, I replied, I don't have to; I had a vasectomy in '74. The next time I tried to download, I was informed that I had been banned. Step by step the situation escalated behind the scenes, but to the end, I had hoped that past friendship would resolve the situation amicably. I'm sorry to say this has not been the case.
