WARNING - Do not give any business to Benny Griffin of Bailey and Griffin Design Consultants in Baton Rouge, Louisiana!
We hired Griffin to make non-structural modifications to stock house plans, including confirming that the plans adhered to the HOA build restrictions. We received 5 sets of plans and each set contained errors. Griffin's lack of attention to details was astounding in that both of our names were misspelled, including the last "Final" set. (Client 101 - know how to spell the clients' names.) We are now 3 months into the process and still do not have an usable set of plans that was only supposed to be modified, not being drawn from scratch.
We tasked Griffin to confirm that the design adhered to the Restrictions, a copy of which was given to Griffin. When the HOA committee looked at Griffin's "Final" plans, it did NOT adhere to the Restrictions. It was obvious that Griffin 1) did not read the Restrictions, 2) ignored the Restrictions or 3) did not understand the design requirements of the Restrictions. Later, our contractor told us that the plans were not even drawn to the 1/4" scale, which is a detriment to the entire build and our ability to obtain permits. One of the walls was 6 feet off!
Our "final" plans are worthless, but unfortunately, we paid Griffin the full amount when the plans were delivered. We did not find out the problems of the plans until after our check was cashed. We have NO CONFIDENCE in the product as delivered. Griffin's plans cannot be trusted and we are scared to think what the house will look like. Griffin has refused to refund our money.
Griffin is so incompetent in design work that he keeps asking us what he needs to do! The builder who recommended him told us said that he did not realize what we required because Griffin is NOT capable of doing the task. Griffin has no integrity to admit that the project is over his head, and instead he keeps wanting to "fix" our project.
Benny Griffin of Bailey and Griffin Design Consultants has essentially SCAMMED us out of $800.00.
Benny Griffin has no integrity.
Benny Griffin is incompetent as a house plan designer despite the fact he touts he is a member of American Institute of Building Design (AIBD).
