This individual and owner of the bailey home improvement told the family his company was licensed and bonded before he volunteered to begin work but in actuality was not either. A month and a half ago, he removed the old manual garage door to replace it with new remote control garage door but to no avail. The door has gaps, rails that go all the way down the sides of
the door, no garage door handle; no battery operated controller, no springs, etc. Therefore this door is manual, too. So what was the point in changing it?
Also, he replaced the old sheet rock with new. The new sheet rocks nails are covered with putty that looks like was splattered up there and has not been sanded or smoothed out. The bathroom sink and pipes were removed and never
replaced with new sink or old sink. He started too many jobs at one time before finishing the other.
However, he was paid cash on two different occasions and told that he could have all iron and copper scraps before any job was completed with exception of knocking down the old storage shed. At this point, we are unable to get any real professionals to complete the work he started. He needs to pay for the money that was spent in purchasing his tools and materials and pay us to have the work already done taken completely down for a fresh start from another licensed and bonded company. So that the work that we originally wanted done can get completed promptly.

Thank you for the information. It is unfortunate that we thought we knew the individual and he would not try to get over on the elderly. At this point, we are really left with no other recourse but to pursue other alternatives since we cannot get any professionals to come in and finish what he started. So far, the estimates have all been close to $3000,00. We will update any good or bad changes with regards to this situation.

I am sorry that you were taken by a fraud. However, do your research on these contractors. The Internet, local permit office and the state all have records on these folks. They have to be bonded and insured in order to have a legitimate business. Take him to small claims and see what you can get back.
