These people are HORRIBLE. It is almost impossible to cancel a contract- they will consider it only if you move far away from any Bally's or are physically disabled enough to not be able to use the gym. Luckily I moved to a rural area with no Bally's for at least 200 miles. I called customer service and the rep told me I can either finish paying the rest of my contract, which was only 2 more months ($65 total), or send in a cancellation fee of $50 along with proof of my new address. Since he said I needed to mail a written statement to cancel my contract at the end of the 3 years anyway, I sent in the cancellation fee and letter. They cashed the check right away, but the next week they sent me a letter saying I still owed $32 because I needed to pay for one more month. I called again and the rep informed me that the payments are pre-billed, meaning you pay for July's bill on July 1st, etc. I was up to date on my payments because they took it out automatically, and I canceled before my billing period was up, so naturally I didn't think I owed anything else. Well, even though they cashed my cancellation fee and I was already paid past the cancellation date, the rep said the contract still states that I would owe one more month. Even if I'm obviously NOT ABLE to get to a gym. Also the rep talked down to me like I was stupid, even though I'm a doctor! Who's the stupid one? Definitely not me (well, maybe I was stupid for signing a contract with them)!! STAY AWAY from this company because they will knowingly rip you off! Their facilities aren't even that great! Of course they won't tell you this, but you have to send a written cancellation letter even if your contract is up!! Also make sure you cancel your automatic payments before you send in your cancellation letter because they will keep taking money out- see the other ripoff reports. If you are looking to join a gym, do a month to month contract and don't sign anything, doctor's orders!
