Well, a friend of mine had bought a used car from Bangor Car Care in Brewer. Not even a week after he got it the heat shield of the catalitic converter started rattling and there was another rattling in the front end. We took a look at it and the exhaust system was starting to shake itself loose. It has only been a little over 30 days and they told him they would not fix it because it was over warrantee and no longer was their problem. This is just another testimonial of how much Bangor Car Care has screwed people over, not the reason the fraud investigation is open.

So, my friend and I were looking at the contract and the lien holders information (both on separate legal documents). He called the bank that Bangor Car Care had said they got him into for the loan, One Source Financial Corp. but they told him that he was not in the system at all. Yet he is sitting at the kitchen table with a legal binding contract that Bangor Car Care had filled out, he had read over it, and both my friend and the dealer had signed. One Source had not received any paperwork regarding the matter so my friend once again called Bangor Car Care.

The Secretary was really mean to him on the phone like I had read about in a few of these reports. She said that when they put them through One Source that they financed him any way possible and that he had in-house financing. But they lied to his face saying that only the first payment would be taken out of his bank account and then they would turn it over One Source where he could start mailing in payments. Well they took out 2 payments 2 weeks in a row and my friend had gotten no call or anything from the bank or Bangor Car Care.

Today I was looking over the contract and the lien holders information and many things were not right. They had postponed my friends down payment until the day that he got paid but I went in with him to give them money and they did not know how much his down payment was supposed to be. But it plainly says $800.00 on the contract, which makes me think they shredded their copy the moment he left with his car. Also under lien holder there is only one name, Source One Financial Corp. not Bangor Car Care which means the car is supposed to belong to them. Also on the contract it has the proper address of Source One and on the lien holder information (printed up by Bangor Car Care) it has a false address of Bangor Pennsylvania which is a different address then on the contract.

Well I advised him to call the Better Business Bureau and they referred him to another number, a higher up. He called that number and they too referred him to a higher up and gave him the number. He explained the situation to both and they both said the same thing, that it sounds like fraud. The number they gave him was for the Bureau of Consumer Protection, he explained the situation to them, and they have started looking into it. A fraud investigation is open now and it is too late to cover their tracks as the paperwork for the bank loan should have been submitted a month ago. They told him to stop making payments on the vehicle and that if everything works out the way it's supposed to he won't have to pay for the vehicle and legally they cannot repossess it because it is not theirs and my friend has the proof on 2 legal documents.

I will wrap this up with saying this, DO NOT BUY FROM BANGOR CAR CARE! If you do they will screw you like they screw everybody else.

P.S. Fraud is a federal crime and they could very well lose their used car dealership license because of this.

P.S.S. I will update this as more developments in the fraud case are disclosed to my friend. He is a close friend so he will tell me everything, and my roommate.
