Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Today I scanned my online banking for charges to my account. Bank of America charged $35 to my account for a Safe Box fee. I have been banking with B of A for years 30 years. I have a business account, home loan, checking, savings and credit card account. I am a advantage member. I was told many years ago that a Safe Box was free with my Advantage profile. Low and behold today I was charged $35. I called the Safe Box number for B of A. Guess what? They have been charging others with Advantage accounts as well. They said it was a glitch. If the customer calls they will fix it. If they do not call then they keep your money. So, we bailed them out and they heard Occupy and removed the $5 fee. Guess how they are getting back at America? Look at your statements!

I guess if the bank made a "slip up", Karl could tell us to 'Google' bananas.

Ronny, in Karl logic, this report had everything to do with meat. The bank made a mistake.Mistake. Misteak. And if that's not enough of a tie-in, well, the OP did have a BEEF with BOFa. The OP had safety deposits. Meat has calcium deposits. etc etc etc

As per Karls suggestion I typed in report # 828274.

Yep..it is a report about buying meat off the street.  Was this report about steak? Leave it to Karl to even discredit a report against Bank Of America..like that is so difficult?

So the bank made a mistake and they made good on it.  Mistakes happen.  It's how the company handles the mistake that matters.  Sounds like BofA took care of you.  No ripoff here.

SYSTEM FAULT POEM

Contact Brenda
Then text Walt
I think we have
A system fault
Where's my burger
Where's my malt
I guess there is
A system fault
Pass the pepper
Pass the salt
My fries are cold
A system fault
This poem's over
Do not exalt
The banker goons
They were at fault.

End.

"Look at your statements!"

Yes, most people who make a report on here about the matter should have done. I completely agree with you on this. And congratulation on what you did. It is the right way to deal with the problem before it is too late.

PS: There are many reasons when this type of fee occurs. I once found that my checking account was being charged even though I have already met with the bank manager and clarified every thing out. I was there with her and watched her worked on the computer. She also showed me that every thing should be fine. Then, I got a charge in my statement. The problem was that the information she entered in the system was lost. It could be the system fault as well. I am wondered who implemented the system for them... The software company should be fined though.

First, I'll state, I don't much care for BOA...

however, the bailout has NOTHING to do with your situation.  These banks have long since repaid the loans with interest.

One other point is, even though this appears to be some sort of screwy mistake on their part, legally, they have the right to change account (including safe box fees).

All they need do is notify you of the pending change and your continued use of the service denotes your acceptance of the new terms.

You saved yourself $35 this time by keeping an eye on your finances...good going.
