My husband opened an account for my son at the 2925 Custer Rd. location. I allowed my son to use this card for his iTunes account. He spent the week at a friend's house while I was out of town. During that time the boys had several sleep-overs with between 5-10 kids on multiple occasions.
The next week, I was notified that the card had a negative balance. I investigated and found out that the kids he was hanging out with thought it would be funny to order a bunch of $10-$20 apps from iTunes on my son's phone. There were 10 charges so the bank charged me $34.50 each for a total of $345.00 plus the iTune charges. This is a great deal of money for us.
I called the bank and spoke to the bank manager, Sloan. He indicated that he didn't really consider it fraud so my choice was to close the account and dispute the charges and hope and pray they were dismissed or pay all the fees. He indicated that I had to know the name(s) of the boys who misused my son's iPhone. As you can imagine, we have no idea which boy(s) played this prank on our son.
Bottom line is that Sloan was rude and uninterested in helping me. Bank of Texas should be ashamed of themselves for not being willing to work with us AT ALL on these charges.
I would NOT recommend Bank of Texas to anyone.

You gave your son a card to use and at the very least he was negligent, at the very most he is outright lying to you. In either case you will not find any bank to reimburse you for any losses. Sorry...but that is just the way it is regardless of what you want to think.

- Let me guess...you "investigated" by asking your son, who of course told you that he had no idea how all of these apps got on HIS phone and had nothing to do with downloading them. After all your son is resposible, can do no wrong so it just HAS to be his "friends"...right? Of course these are friends that even after your investigation have no idea what their name(s) are..umm.
Here is a bit of a fact. iTunes requires you to be logged in BEFORE it allows any purchase on the account. So just how did these "friends" get the password for the account?
Did you ever call any of their parents? How about just starting with the parents of the house he stayed over at? After all they must be responsible parents and can give you the other names right? Even if it is just to let them know there is a possibility that they downloaded apps on your son's iPhone? No you didn't because you apparently don't even have ANY names?
You can say that no one is admitting to it. Well I can guarantee you that regardless of who did it, EVERYONE in the sleepover knew about it...yes this includes your son. Just to give you a point of reference taking it to a serious level. If drugs are found in a car and no one admits to it...EVERYONE in the car gets charged. No I am not saying your kid is doing drugs..just to think about how yours could be treated the same way.
Sounds like your son needs to get use to life without a Cell Phone...well at least until he figures out how to reimburse you the money.

Not a ripoff with the bank. Your son was negligent with the card. The ripoff report should be aimed at your son's friends who committed theft and fraud.
If the bank gave you a refund they would be setting themselves up for the same thing to happen again.
