RE: used automatic transmission with code "CLK"

I recieved a used automatic transmission with code "CLK" for a 97 VW Jetta on 9/21/09. But after it was installed in the car, and had a new "filter" and  transmission fluid (purchased from dealer) put in, the transmission would only work in "reverse, 1st, and 2nd gears.  3rd gear, and Drive would "not" work. So car would only go 50 mph with engine revved up to about 4,000 rpms. It would not shift into 3rd and then into Drive.



So I called Basic Car Parts on 9/28/09 told them the problem, and they first told me I would have to send the transmission back, but then emailed me and told me I would "not have to" I could "trash" the transmission and they would send me another one. I told them I wanted email stating this and also the "new tracking number"for the replacement transmission that they were going to be sending me!



So after calling each day and being put on hold many times, and talking to many people, some which are named in this report above. I still do "not" have the "new tracking number", or the "replacement transmission" or a refund for the $855.00  which I paid for the "first transmission" that they sent me which was "defective" as mentioned above.



Also I was wondering why it only took them 24 hours to get me the "old tracking number" for the first transmission that they send me.While it has been 16 days and counting and still have no "new tracking number" or replacement transmission for the "defective" one they sent me on 9/21/09.



I want a "replacement automatic transmission" with code "CLK"  or  a "refund" of $855.00 I paid them for the "defective" transmission they sent me.

Never, ever, ever buy from a company that doesn't even list their address!

That's the first sign of trouble, and it was written all over this company!

Also, they are "privately" registered - their domain doesn't allow you to see who it is registered to!

FINALLY
After calling and emailing everyday since 10/26/09 when I found out that the "first" automatic transmission with code "CLK" they sent me was "defective"and waiting 3 weeks for the "tracking number" for the replacement transmission they were sending me.

After waiting 1 weeks for a replacement automatic transmission with code "CLK" to be delivered and getting the wrong transmission (it had code "DLZ")

Then requesting a "refund" to my credit card for the $855.00 I paid them for this used automatic transmission that they could not replace with a "good working one" with the correct transmission code of "CLK"

"Today", after "one month" of calls and emails and filling reports to BBB and a "dispute" with my credit card company, they "finally" credited my credit card with the refund of $855.00.

So Thanks to Rip-off Report I finally got my refund!!!!!

Note: this is very "poor" business to treat a customer like this, putting on hold all the time and not responding to emails, until threaten!!!

recieved "wrong" replacement automatic transmission

After emailing Tara Barr and calling each day telling her and the others mention in this report that they sent me a "defective" automatic transmission.

She emailed me on 10/02/09 telling me that she had found a replacement automatic transmission with code "CLK" and would send me a tracking number to my email. 

So after "two weeks" and after calling and emailing Tara Barr she finally sent me a tracking number to my email.

Then after waiting another 5 days I recieved the replacement transmission.
But it was the "wrong" automatic transmission!  It had a transmission code "DLZ"

Not the "correct" transmission code "CLK" that Tara Barr said that she was sending me.
Have emails to prove this!!!

So told truck driver that delivered this "wrong" transmission to take it back.

I have since then called and emailed Tara Barr letting her and the others know that they sent me "wrong" replacement automatic transmission.

Also stated in email and by phone that I want a refund to my credit card for the $855.00 I paid them.

But after 2 days have not had any replies from them by phone or email.
