I received an order for some of my unique and hand crafted jewelry which the customer had seen online in my Etsy store.  The order was to be sent via Bax Global because this was a shipping company trusted by Nelson Brown, the customer.

The customer emailed asking me to contact Bax Global for shipping because he trusted them and they took care of customs, duties, etc.  Which I did.

After I looked Bax Global up on the internet and was satisfied that it was a legitimate company, I emailed them for cost of shipping information.  They emailed back with two prices, one for express shipping and one for standard shipping.  Both prices seemed high to me so I emailed the customer (Nelson Brown) forwarding the price quote to him.  He emailed back saying he was will to pay for express shipping...$1850.21, and would I please send that via Western Union to Smith Collins at Bax Global.

At this point (as I look back) I should have asked someone with some business sense for input.  I am an artist who was very pleased to receive this jewelry order.  I waited with ordering supplies (sterling silver) until the credit cards had cleared and the funds showed up in my bank account.  When I thought the funds had cleared because they where in my bank account I ordered just over $1,000.00 worth of silver wire.  Once silver wire is cut it is not returnable.

When I knew when the order would be ready to ship I set up a pickup date with Bax Global and then sent the funds from the credit card Nelson Brown had used to pay for the order and the shipping.  Went to Western Union and sent the cash.

I was working so hard fill this order when I received a phone call from my merchant service asking the Name and address of the person using the credit card for this purchase.  I complied.  The merchant service called back saying that this was not the name and address associated with that credit card number.  I had been scammed.

I contacted Bax Global asking them to return the funds for shipping and cancel the order.  All that happened is that I received an email from Nelson Brown which read, "What's going on?"  Which made me think that Nelson and Bax were in cahoots.

When I explained via email to the customer, Nelson Brown, that his order had been placed on hold untill I received a cashiers check from him I never heard back.

I have sent requests for a refund from Bax Global since services were never rendered.  I have sent requests via PayPal.  No response.

At least I can use the silver, but I am out the $1850.21.  Ouch!  It will take me a long time to make up for that loss.

Sorry, but you never actually sent the money to Bax Global, you sent it to the scammer.

I have dealt with Bax Global and they are a legit company, but you sent the money to the scammer

via Western Union.

Why would a legit company use Western Union to receive payments? They don't. That is why you haven't heard back from Bax Global-(by the way, they are now Schenker-look them up).

I am sorry you are out the money, but remember, anytime anyone asks you to use Western Union,

 it's a scam!

It will save you a lot of grief.
