Beacon Homes of NJ Took my dream home and turned it into a never ending nightmare Manasquan New Jersey
In 2008 I hired Beacon Homes to finish my modular home. It turns out that Bill Scharfenberg, the owner of the company, is not only a builder but an assistant prosecutor in Ocean County. Making a long story short, due to shotty workmanship and using improper materials, my house developed a severe mold problem and my certificate of occupancy was taken away by the township. I had to move out of my home and I developed asthma from living there.
After 5 yers of litigation (try suing a prosectuor), I finally reached a settlement with Beacon Homes. In my opinion it was a lousy settlement. I didn't get enough money to rebuild my destroyed home and I am still paying a mortgage on a house I don't live in along with expenses to live somewhere else. Part of the settlement was that Beacon Homes was to demolish the home (in their words, it was remove the existing modular boxes) and they had 180 days to do it. They didn't even obtain a demo permit in that time to be able to remove the boxes. AFter 180 days, I hired someone else to demo the home so I could rebuild. Now Beacon Homes has filed a motion against me in court to force me to give him the modular boxes. Bill Scharfenberg has already had a foundation set to where he was going to set the boxes. He is using my moldy old modular boxes to construct a home to sell to someone else. Real nice. That house will be at 108 Green Island Rd. in Toms River if he succeeds in convincing a judge that he should have those moldy modular boxes.
I can't believe that i have been paying a mortgage on a home I can't live in for over 3 years and was in litigation that lasted years and I am trying to reclaim my life and the man still won't get out of my life. I don't know how he sleeps at night. If you don't want the hardache and stress that I went thru, don't use this builder. I will be happy to talk to anyone regarding my case and provide a docket number to confirm what I say. I can also recommend a fabulous lawyer who represented me if anyone is having building problems now.
