Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
These weasles have had my customers car for almost 1 year. Frank Beck told me he had a enginge block for a 996 machined and ready to go. If my company let him do a job for us it would be done in no more than 3 weeks. that was in april 2011. it is now dec 2011. No car back yet.Beck' was paid in full over $12k that had to be wired into there account.  Ive been to his shop 7 times and never met the man. Did meet a women in the front end (who is now not working for him and his wife Kim) who informend me that she was getting tired of the Becks dishonast ways with there customers, this was told to me more than one time. Ive been told time and time again that the car would be done , ontil one day I recieved a E-mail from Mr. Frank Beck him self telling me that the engine he built had come apart. Mr Beck tried to blame it on Mobile One oil. Lol...Ok Mr Beck. Frank Beck said it would take some time to tare down the engine to see what had failed. Next email from Mr Fank Beck Said " one of the wrist pin clips fell out and the motor had to be remachined. WOW! at this piont im really starting to get upsetand and concerned. Now im in the middle of my customer and this clown in north scottsdale. We waited and waited, got a few more false delivery times from The Becks. I called Becks on 12/14/11 and was told by there "new" front end girl. that the car was done. I asked her to have Mr. Frank Beck call me and tell me this him self. Mr Beck called later that day. I went up the next morning to pick up the car and was told that the car has no revearse and then was handed a bill. Really!? this was already paid in FULL and the car had revears when he got it. This car only has 17000 miles on it. He also charged us to look at the no revears problem but neither did he fix it or know what was wrong with it.

Theses guys are really screwing there customers! ive been in atomotive repair for over 25 years and have never seen such a joke! still have no car, its being held ransom. Mr. Beck will learn vey shortly that he cant keep screwing his customers around.  Next step Mr. Beck....to get served...see you in court.

Mr Becks responce to that when I had him on the phone earlyer today " I dont care thats why I have insurance" WOW! I relly hope this hels any one not looking to get screwed around.

I have been a customer of Frank Beck for several years now.  Beck's European has worked on 2 Porsches for me over the years.  Frank did 100% of the work on my 2002 996, including an engine replacement when the original engine failed (not an uncommon problem in 996's).  Frank's shop did all the work timely and professionally and I was extremely happy with the outcome.  Now that I have changed cars to a Cayman S Frank is still my go to guy.  Frank even took the time to help me and advise me during my search for a new car earlier this year.

I would like to address a few of the claims stated by the original poster.  He claims that Frank churns through employees.  In fact the same mechanics are there as when I first brought in my 996 several years ago.  I have seen a few new faces in the front office over the last 5 years, but that is normal.  I know Lacey was mentioned in these posting and I would say that I always received excellent customer service from her when I came in so I can't speak to any particular issues.

What I can say is that after spending over 5 figures in Frank's shop over the years I am a very happy customer and I think you will be too if you use Beck's European to service your car.

While searching online about Becks i came cross this report. I am going to give my unbiased opinion as a consumer who has used Beck's services for my past 2 Porsches.

To sum it up, i only trust one shop in Arizona to work on my Porsche, & that is Becks European. Frank Beck is a Porsche Guru, he is not a Mechanic, he is an "Artist" as far as i'm concerned. The man is actually very involved in the Porsche community, from Track events to simple cars & coffee events.

I have had some serious work done on my vehicles at Becks, and always left with a smile on my face. Let me be the first to say, Becks isn't where you take your car if your trying to go somewhere "cheap" you have to understand you get what you pay for...Becks prices are well below dealership prices but they are on par with premium mechanic shops, i have no problem saving money by taking my car to Becks over the dealer & also knowing that someone with so much experience & accountability such as Frank Beck will either be working on my car himself or will be overlooking the work by his staff.

As for "Mechanics'" turnover, i have only seen one of his main mechanics missing since the past 2 years- I do see fresh young faces & i like that- The man is teaching a new younger generation about how to be Porsche Surgeons.

All in all, Becks service is A+, turnaround time is A+, Overall value A+ i will not take my Porsche anywhere else.

The only one lying here is Frank Beck/Becks European

#4UPDATE EX-employee responds

#Becks European and #Frank Beck obviously are the only ones lying here.  You see I was told today, by a previous customer,  that this rip-off report existed and that Frank Beck was telling yet more lies.  So to set the record straight the DES did not find that I was telling any lies and, in fact, paid my unemployment claim fully.  The fact that Becks European and Frank Beck did not get charged for this was due to his own mishandling of the facts, his own lies and his own deception.  For that matter after reading the complaints herein I must say...pretty true to my understanding except of course, those of #Frank Beck and #Becks European.  This guy really is his own judge, jury and executioner!  To get me involved in this rip-off report and b.s. is truly stupid of him since I know enough to really sink the guy.  I agree with the comment that Frank Beck is dishonest!  I have not worked for this inept little joker for over 6 months and yet he gets me involved in his petty and unimportant little world here because a customer complained about him.  You are the sad one little man, not me!  Bugger off! TLBAYACWY.

Frank Beck #Becks European Liar - Loser

#5Consumer Comment

Was online and found this rip off report.  I know this is true (Frank Beck's a liar and Beck's European has poor service) because I received anonymous contact about my engine which was started on fire at #Beck's European and #Frank Beck the liar hid this.  After having a mechanic look in my engine compartment there was yellow splashed in the compartment obviously from a fire extinguisher.  When I spoke to Frank Beck about this, he lied when the evidence was already against him.  It is my understanding that he brags about being a Christian yet probably things he's his own God and can treat people with disdain in his own world.

Frank Beck once again dishonest and telling more lies

#7Consumer Comment

Oops wrong again Frank Beck the dishonest, unethical, lack of character and herein inept!  Wrong employee, maybe you should check your facts before you go on a tirade and rant of your own!

Frank Beck, Becks European also started a customer's Porsche engine on fire by cleaning it with brake fluid.  He put out the fire, changed the air filter and never told the customer who still has problems with the car.

Frank Beck was kicked out of the Jaguar shop next door and told never to step foot in it again (wonder why).

If you got a bill that was high priced and you own a BMW that is because Frank Beck, Becks European did not have a BMW tech and Frank only knows about Porsches.  He is guessing on BMWs and that explains the time and cost of the service.

Frank Beck, Becks European denied my unemployment claim and others by proof of his comments above about Lane Romanick who was the only good person to work with there in the office.  Lane Romanick cared about her work, learned the business fast and was good to the customers and employees.  The vendors and customers and employees only had great things to say about Lane.  Franks comments about her are another lie in his dishonest and unethical handling of his employees and business.

Run from this shop!

www= wild wild west. I'm amazed that these people believe that there are no consequences for "anonymously" posting a malicious rant like this. Perhaps after they spend thousands of dollars for legal representation they will think twice before doing it to someone else.

Unfortunately this confirms our opinion of the contaminated work pool in this country. It is obvious that this post came from a disgruntled ex-employee with entitlement issues and not a consumer. As our website clearly states, we have very stringent employee standards to ensure quality and provide the best possible service that our customers deserve. Our company is very fair and very demanding with our employees. Sometimes it just isn't a good fit but we in no way treat them unjustly, during or after their employment with us.

I can only assume Lane Romanick's tirade was a result of Arizona Department of Economic Security determining that she was guilty of lying and insubordination and denying her unemployment benefits on 3/14/2012. She was let go for this unethical behavior (also because she believed that she was entilted to Facebook and other frivolities on company time). This is unfortunate as she was employed by our company from 6/2010 to 11/2011 (contrary to what her Linkedin profile states- another fabrication) and had a bright future ahead of her. Unfortunately she started going off the reservation after about a year with Beck's. In spite of her bitterness and resentment toward us, we wish her the best in finding employment in the Phoenix Scottsdale area.

BTW: Our paperwork and discussions with the customer make it very clear that the engine in question had a wristpin clip failure, not a machining issue. Not sure where she got that from.

Becks European ripoff and does lie

The experience of the engine noted is further supported by the fact that the technician at Becks European working on the engine installed an incorrect pin to the engine which Marvin was never told about by Frank Beck who insisted the engine was machined incorrectly when the pin scored the engine  when he started it up.  Mr. Beck's mistreatment of employees is well known throughout the industry and is a running joke in the industry including the auto shops next door to him.

Mr. Beck insists and tells everyone that if an employee leaves they are "...lazy, entitled and/or dishonest".  I find it funny that the neighborhood vendors and auto shops alike know that he has burned through at least 20+ people in the last 2+ years and it is "always" according to Mr. Beck "the employees fault".  Mr. Beck then goes to the employee's new employer and tells them the employee was lazy, entitled and/or dishonest to attempt to get the employee fired.  The employee that leaves Becks is happier elsewhere and the employer that hires that employee (several I know of for example) are extremely pleased with the employee's work and have kept them on long-term.  He has fired an employee while he was in emergency surgery and cancelled his insurance at that time. This is a dishonest man who deals with his employees dishonestly, attempts to withhold final pay, denies unemployment and attempts to find where the employee has gone to further cause destruction.  He places all employees on "salary" techs, engine builders and office staff to "get away" with working them 10 hour days without proper pay as well as expecting their lunch hour or personal time if they need to see a doctor.  Mr. Beck is an angry man who demeans those in his employ and the vendors he deals with and it is a running joke throughout the industry.

You be the judge: His version versus our version.

#11REBUTTAL Owner of company

Sun, December 18, 2011

I'm sorry that Mr. Breton let his emotions get out of control. This malicious website is more destructive than constructive (What if any person could file a permanent complaint against you on a website for something you did or said, regardless of the facts? Who of us would not suddenly be viewed with some suspicion? It's pathetic that "facts" are not a pre-requisite for opening a complaint on RR. You have to wonder if RR actually post complaints against them?) I'm actually surprised that Mr. Breton didn't anticipate the negative press his actions were going to get for his company. I even have a small amount of sympathy for him as he's created a serious problem for himself and his company here.

At the end of the day our character is manifested by our decisions and in this situation it is up to the reader to separate fact from fiction.

Facts:

1.  Our company began working on this engine after Mike Breton dropped it off at our shop in late July/early Aug, 2011. Mr. Breton admitted that he had tried since April to solve the oil/coolant mixing problem but was unsuccessful. We were told that there was no real hurry because the owner of the car would not be back in town until late Fall.

2.  The vehicle was towed over for installation of the rebuilt engine in Sep, 2011.

3.  The vehicle in question didn't have an operational reverse gear from the moment we attempted to drive it in September. We spent considerable time confirming that it was a linkage problem and a pre-existing condition. Mike Breton was told about this and it is documented. He instructed us in September that his shop would take care of this and the A/C line that his people drilled through.

4.  Some of the delay in this job was the result of Mike Breton's choice to use an incompetent vendor for the cylinder head work. (It is noted on the invoice that we are not responsible for any cylinder head work because Mike Breton provided this service).

5.  We did in fact have a wristpin clip failure in the rebuilt engine that was our responsibility (We accepted 100% of the expense and provided a free rental car when the owner needed one) and because of very time consuming outside machine work from LN Engineering (an out of state vendor), we did not have the engine reinstalled, dyno tested, road tested, and ready for delivery until 12/14/2011. The engine runs beautifully and nothing was compromised in terms of quality. This is our standard and we never violate it. AND if there are any issues with the engine within our generous warranty period, we will gladly take care of them.

6.  The car was picked up on 12/16/2011 as soon as Breton's $600 bill was paid (by the owner of the car).

7.  Our company performed our job, satisfied the customer, and Mike Breton has not paid one penny to us. Exactly what "case" does he have against our company? The bottom line is that the customer got a great engine at a fair price within a time frame that is consistent with industry norms. (Rebuilding of a Porsche 996 engine with re-sleeving and increased displacement is a 4-5 month job because of the machining process. These engines are only rebuilt by a handful of shops around the country- even the Porsche dealers won't do them!)

8.  As for his comments regarding the "woman in the frontend", she is definitely an "ex-employee" for many reasons. Please take a moment and read over our website and note, among other things, our very strong opinions and convictions regarding employees and our business philosophy- we're not very popular with the lazy, entitled, or dishonest people of this world...

9.  Mr. Breton's last statement is probably the closest thing to truth that he said. I absolutely stated that "we have insurance in the event of a lawsuit". But since this is an occurrence that we're not familiar with it's highly unlikely that it would come to pass.

10.  The comment that I was out of the shop the seven times he came by: I count it a priviledge to be a slave to my customers and that often takes me out of the office to serve them. I honestly don't know what his point was in mentioning this.

It's much too easy to make false accusations and charges on the web; I could actually initiate a legitimate complaint against Breton's Auto for slander on Ripoff Report so it shows up on his Google search results but the jury is still out on this decision. I may however add this entire exchange to our website. For the time being, since Mike Breton chose to use this forum to vent his misplaced ego bruising, I would simply challenge him to support his allegations with actual facts rather than hyped-up innuendo and emotion-charged slander.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,

Frank Beck

"Marvin" who wrote the complaint is none other than Mike Breton from Breton's Auto Repair

#12REBUTTAL Owner of company

Sat, December 17, 2011

Mike Breton (AKA "Marvin"- why wouldn't someone mention their actual name unless they had something to hide?) who owns Breton's Speed Shop/Breton's Auto Repair is barking up the wrong tree. Our reputation speaks for itself and so does his (just check out their Google reviews).

The customer who owns the car in question is perfectly happy and the warranty issue in question was performed according to industry standards and ethics.... and we certainly didn't have his engine or his car for one year! We even provided a free rental car to the vehicle owner. All companies sometimes have problems with materials or human resources; it's how they are handled that separates them from the others. Beck's European is a quality shop with a 38 year history in the Phoenix area.

Mike Breton wanted our company to absorb expenses that were his obligation (at least he didn't expect us to repair the hole that one of his people drilled through the A/C line in the car...) and when I politely encouraged him to pound sand, he retailiated with this posting. Again, the fact that he posted this complaint with a fake name speaks volumns about his ethics and character. Who does this? Oh yes, Mike Breton.
