I ordered a list of "pre-screened" work-at-hom companies from PEOPLES LIFESTYLE. The brochure they sent me (cost:$40) stated that they list only companies which meet their high standards and are guarunteed not to be scams.

One company listed that I was interested in was BELLA BEADS. The free information that she sent me advised that the company is run by a work-at-home mother and the program entails making beaded bookmarks which which she would buy from me as I made them. It said she would pay $104 plus $40 (shipping and materials) for each unit of 18 bookmarks that I made and sent to them.

I paid $79 upfront via debit card for registration, "management of my file" amd enough supplies to make one bookmark to send in for inspection, as well as supplies to make the first unit of bookmarks (that is $39 of the $79 up-front fee).

I sent in the bookmark for inspection and recieved the bookmark back 5 days later with a note that said "good".  After a week I did not recieve the 1st unit supplies so I called the provided phone number and told her that. She said it has been mailed and I should recieve it in a couple days.

A few days passed and I recieved nothing so I ried to call again. No answer so I left a message including my phone number. No response. Every few days I call back and get no answer, leave a message and get no response. This has been going on for 3 weeks.

Just to let everyone know, I am not just here to complain about this. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bereau. And I will give her a few more days, if I do not hear from her, IT'S ON!!!
I have plenty of time on my hands and I will bring her scam down (if it turns out to be a scam). I'll begin with notifying her local chamber of commerce, her local law enforcement, and post and re-post about my experience with her on all the  applicable forums I can find on the web. I'm currently looking into my own website which will describe my experience in detail and surface as a sarch result when bella beads is searched on the net.

This is not so much an update as it is an addendum to my post. I wanted to post this in case the operator of this company, Gina Straw, reads and rebuttals this post as she has done others...

Please do not simply write "sorry for the inconvenience, please contact the company for a refund" because, as you know, everyone who has posted about you here has tried to contact you but cant after you cash the check. So instead, use this space to explain why you do not return phone calls (you never returned my 25+ calls, and read the other posts here) and what xactly is the problem that causes so many people to still be waiting 2, 3, 6, 10 weeks or even over a year to recieve a package that they have prepaid for?

Wouldn't one assume that the operator of a legitamit company would at leats return a call to an "independent contractor" who has left 10 to 15 voicemails with their phone number stating that they have been waiting 3 weeks for a package that they have already paid for? Just to let them know what the problem is and to set their mind at ease? Why is it that so many people here on this forum have tried repeatedly to contact you, sometimes for months, you don't answer, dont return messages, but you see and respond to complaints that the public (and those researching your company, possibly wanting to send you a check) can see? You apparently have the time to cash checks and return calls to people who want to order a kit, but not enough time to return calls to people who want to know what happened to the stuff they paid for?

You did return 3 calls to me. 1)When I gave you my debit info to order the startup kit and supplies to make the first unit of bookmarks (of course). 2)When I recieved the sample back that I sent you and wanted to make sure it was ok. 3) When I told you it had been 2 weeks since I should have recieved my supplies and you told me it would take a coulple more days.

Now, weeks later nothing in the mail and of course, no calls returned.

HERE IS YOUR CHANCE!!!!! Set the record straight!!!!

Well, I'm going to end this now, get off my computer, call you and leave you another message (yeah.... you better get used to that.... more and more often as time goes on.... it may get unbearable but I would be within my rights). I would like to do business as you set forth in the literature you sent me, but that seems to be becoming a dim prospect.
