Benefits Plus - Liberty Classic Credit Card Ripoff Benefits Plus - deducted $299.95 from my checking account after I cancelled Closter New Jersey
Liberty Classic Credit Card called and told me that if I didn't get their credit card from them, I would NEVER be able to get another credit card from ANYONE!!!It was a "fix your credit" type of card.
When I decided to cancel rather than take it, I was given a cancellation number and told it was cancelled. IT WAS NOT!!! Today, $295.95 was deducted from my checking account which overdrew my checking account. When I called, they said I never called and cancelled and had to write to New Jersey to a man named Thomas Henry to get a refund.
My mother called the company and the customer service person was rude when he found out she was on the phone with me and they hung up on her when she said she was reporting them to the BBB.
We called again and got a different person. She was very rude. After we hung up, she called back on a cell phone number I had not given her (I have no idea where she got the number) and said she had called my bank and the money was NOT taken out of the account. I immediately called the bank again and they said it definitely HAD been taken out. They said just putting a stop payment on that name wouldn't help because they could always try to take it out under a different name. They said I should change checking accounts which I will do.
