I am a retired independant insurance agent.
I used a corporate name while working, after retiring I notified my bank that my renewal checks would be written to a corporation that I no longer have.
I however wanted the bank to deposit my renewal checks arriving with my no longer existing corporate name, but wish to use the same name so my checks can be deposited to my account(now a fictitous name), this has been done for many years!
Today I received a notice from "Florida Assumed Name Services" of 1700 N. Monroe Street, Tallahassee, an address that most would assume is a govrnment agency, Florida's govrnment agencies are mostly all in Tallahassee intimating it was mandated that in order to continue using my assumed name, I would have to file(form encl.), and pay a $125 fee. THIS IS A TOTAL RIP-OFF, and they are trying to give the impression they are a Government Agency!
