I have had nothing but trouble with the columbus BBB they also handly alabama complaints. My main concern Is my mother had a problem with the builder she purchased a house from.

He refused to do anything to fix minor problems In the home & there was something wrong with the air conditioning unit It wouldn't cool the house. My mother made a complaint to the BBB. They wouldn't do a thing.

After 60 days nothing my mother e-mailed the BBB they stated the mann refused to answer the complaint & they are closing It. 30 days after that I checked manns record they put him In good standing with the BBB.

They put that mann made a reasonable effort to resolve the issues but the consumer did not accept the offer. I have there e-mail 05/2005 that mann refused to answer the complaint & I can prove the BBB has lied.

Somebody Is protecting Mann the BBB is protecting him the home builders board wouldn't do nothing & today this still remains unresolved. Of course my mother had to spend her own money to have the air conditioning fixed.

The attorney general office wouldn't do nothing so something Is going on. There was a written warranty which mann failed to honor, he fought every step of the way not to resolve anything.

I just would like to warn new home buyers do not buy nothing from this builder he will cheat you & lie about you. Somebody Is protecting Mann & his business. This still remains unresolved.

The BBB IS a joke! Look, I work at the BBB. I can tell you that while this organization has a admirable cause, you really have to ask yourself what their cause is. The BBB presents themselves to you in the manner that you want to hear. Much like the typical politician. If you are a consumer with a problem, well then they are just the people to call because they look out for you. If you are a business owner they tell you that they are pro-business and founded on the concept of self-regulation. So, how can they be both pro-consumer and pro-business? They can't. They will tell you that the accredited businesses support honesty and integrity in the marketplace and this allows the BBB to educate the consumers. Here's all the stuff they don't tell you. 1. If you become accredited, you INCREASE your chances of having complaints filed against you. Once consumers know of your affiliation they are more likely to file a complaint with the BBB. 2. The BBB keeps complaints on file well PAST the 36 months in contradiction to what they tell you. It just isn't available for consumers to see on the company reliability report. Also, if a complaint is pending it does not show up on the reliability report either. The BBB has NO OBLIGATION to close a complaint. I have seen complaints go unprocessed and left open for years. 3. If you own a business they will tell you how many inquiries you've had or referrals you've had. You are being fed a line of BS. The referral number is the exact same for every accredited business in your category. 4. The system is designed so that if you don't pay the dues you can't get as high of a rating as someone who does. A business really is paying for a rating. Watch out for letter ratings as an A rating simply could mean they are accredited (A for Accredited and not A as in ABCDEF) 5. The BBB claims they resolve 80% of consumer complaints. LIE! What they don't tell you is that the majority are considered 'RESOLVED' because the complaining party didn't respond to the business rebuttal. Often times, email addresses are bad, mail is returned, etc. and no one at the BBB will try to physically contact the complainant to verify their contact information. This is the BBB's way of maintaining their 80% resolution rate. From my experience it is closer to 50%. The BBB banks on the fact that after filing the initial complaint the consumers will drop the ball. Want to know how to tell watch for this language " Company addressed the complaint issues. The consumer failed to acknowledge acceptance to the BBB." 6. The BBB will go out of their way to make sure their accredited business complaints are closed in a positive manner. This is not done for non-accredited businesses. If a complaint is filed and the non-accredited business is sent an email (email address supplied by the consumer) and the email fails, the complaint is closed as unable to locate. This is a negative for the business. 7. Do you have any idea how many complaints are asked to be re-opened because the BBB closed a complaint and one of the parties wasn't notified? 8. And don't get me started on the sales staff. I have heard them tell business owners the largest bunch of bs I have ever heard. 9. The BBB spends a lot of time trying to figure out how to attract businesses to become accredited to increase their income and pad their own coffers. 10. Accreditation means nothing. Prior to October 2007 these same 'accredited businesses' were members. The BBB just changed the name because they didn't want to reflect that a business can just pay dues to be affiliated with the BBB. 11. Do you think they actually perform background checks. Think again. Company pays their dues to the BBB and they are in. The only time a question will arise is if they see something on the company website they don't like. The BBB accuses honest businesses of being shady even if they have done nothing wrong its just based on a feeling that someone gets. Stay away from the BBB. Consumers should use Angie's List. At least they are funded by consumers. Businesses should join the Chamber

The better business bureau of columbus will not forward your rebuttal to the business. Other better business bureaus will @ least give you a chance to send In rebuttals but not In columbus. I think this Is unfair to us the consumers. You can tell buy the actions of the columbus BBB they will do everything to protect bad business like they have mann. I still have a copy of there e-mail from 2005 saying that mann failed to answer the complaint & they closed It. But 2 months after the complaint they reported that mann made every reasonable effort, to resolve the complaint. And gave mann a satisfactory. The better business bureau needs to watch what they send In e-mails because one day It could come back to haunt them. I will continue to expose this BBB for the scum liars they are. Mann does not deserve a satisfactory rating but I will not make complaints with them anymore. The better business bureau Is getting worse. Know they will not let consumers send In there rebuttals.

The better business bureau of columbus georgia Is a joke. Anytime you have a problem with a business & when you don't accept there response. The BBB closes the complaint & they have determined the business made a good faith effort to resolve the complaint. Then the BBB will report false information to mislead the public. The next victim will have no idea about the business past so the business can continue to victimize more innocent custormer's thank's to the BBB!. I will not make anymore complaint's with the BBB even If I do have a problem they have lost my faith & trust! they are crook's to!, they are alway's on the side of the business!. I don't care what they say they are on the business side & they brush of the consumer!. How can they determine the business made a good faith effort. The business didn't even resolve the complaint, the BBB Is a complete scam!. All BBB are scam's!.

The better business bureau protects the business. I know they can't make the business do what Is right, but what I blame the BBB for Is putting false information & misleading the public. The BBB Is reporting that mann made every reasonable attempt to resolve the complaint, the BBB closed It has (Complaint Administratively judged resolved). Mann did not resolve the complaint. I do not know why these agencies are protecting mann so the public has no idea how mann has treated home buyers In the past. There Is something going on. Along with the business owners victimizing custormers the BBB also victimizes us. And they do the public an injustice buy reporting false information. The BBB Is just has guilty the BBB gave mann a satisfactory rating & they are reporting he has resolved complaints which he has not. Mann gives everybody a hardtime because he does not want to honor his own warrenties. Instead he wants people to spend there own money so he can save his.

The better business bureau Is reporting false information on manns BBB record. They are stating he made every reasonable attempt to resolve the complaint I have the e-mail stating he refused to answer It. To date this still remains unresolved after I filed the complaint agaisnt mann he received a second complete this time the BBB put resolved. I find this hard to believe after the hardtime he gave my mother. Somehow mann Is getting protected. Well I have the e-mail them stating that mann refused to answer the complaint & they are reporting he made every reasonable attempt to resolve the complaint. I do not know why the BBB has to treat us like this. I have lost all faith & trust In the BBB. So know when future home buyers look @ manns record they woould see him has a good has resolved all complaints. The BBB Is just has guilty letting more innocent consumers get cheated from because they mislead the public & don't put accurate information.
