We just started our construction company this year. Bizopia, called my husband on his cell. My husband doesn't speak or understand very good english. Still they proceded with the sale offer of a website for his business. They asked him a whole bunch of questions and recorded them. It was supposed to be a 10 day trial period before being charged; however,it started the day after the conversation and by the time we opened the mail and looked at it, the 10 days had expired!! I called to cancel the very same day, but according to Bizopia supervisors there would be absolutely NO credits or adjustments made, because they had a voice authorization of the services & the 10 days were up.

By the way, the recording they played back for me, was garbage. You can tell by listening to it that my husband was having a hard time and some questions he didn't even answer correctly!!Still they used his so called recorded authorization against the whole situation. One question was are you over 18 and authorized to make changes to your phone bill? He didn't understand it, someone repeated, are you over 18, and my husband said yes. He is over 18, however, the 2nd part of the question was never answered, he is not authorized anywhere on the phone bill!! I spoke to 2 supervisors and still nothing could be done. We now have to pay $90 for nothing. I know it doesn't sound like alot of money, but to us it is a difference, and most of all the way they took advantage of the situation is unbelievable. Too bad for them , because we will be starting a website for our new construction company (not with them of course) and they just lost a second customer beacuse I have a business of my own and will also be getting my own website VERY soon.

I just left a job with a Tele Sales Company located in Columbia and Nashvlle TN. I at the time was doing work on another job however the girl I sat beside did Quality Control work for Bizopia. She and I are friends and I did have a chance to listen to what she did tell customers. She said Hello My name is ________________ and I am calling with Bizopia Quality Control. I understand you spoke with one of My reps and I wanted to make sure they were polite and answered all of your questions. She then asked them to state their billing address, title and e-mail address. She did also ask if they were authroized to incure charges on the phone bill. She also told them it was a Free Trial 15 day period and that they would have to call the toll free customer service number to cancel it if they did not want to be billed for it. Some people did not fully understand the program and some did cancel there site however for the most part the reps seemed to be honest with the customer.

Webdesign by phone? I hope that your new company comes away with this as a way NOT to do business.

Lisa, From what I understand, you have people cold calling companies over the phone to set up and design web sites? Go through the business license office for your list? At first I thought that you were saying that the person had to call into your company personally to verify his order, but at closer reading it sounds like you just turn on the recording and then have the person verify. I have no doubt that you are a professional company and can do excellent work. However, I think that the method of sales and service leaves a bit to be desired. Why not use the same method of verifying the clients pleasure with the site... a phone call before the 10 period is over? Could it be that the $79.98 is better than nothing? I think that 10 days is a bit tight as a time constraint. 10 BUSINESS days maybe, but depending on when and where it is sent, you are looking at a couple of days in the mail... Also, if it is a new company (especially a one man operation) it is possible that what may appear as another piece of unneeded junk mail gets moved to the bottom of the pile. I don't think that that is unusual because of all the balls a new company is trying to keep in the air. Edna, I know that $90 is money better spent on something else. I can feed my family for almost 2 weeks on that. If nothing else, I hope that your new company comes away with this as a way NOT to do business. While going to school at night to get my business degree I would work during the day and I learned more during the day on how NOT to run a business than I did at night about how TO run one. The biggest thing I learned is the short term profits that people were willing to earn at the expense of long term growth. You posted your experience with this company and it will remain here as long as this website survives. That should be worth the $90 to you and you can move on with a clearer idea of how to take care of customers so they keep coming back to you! Thanks,

Lisa

On June 22,2004 Juan Alvarez accepted our offer to have Bizopia design a website for his business with a 10 day review period, he also completed a 3rd party recorded verification that stated very clearly Hello. You have reached Bizopia's automated verification system. This conversation is being recorded and will require less than 2 minutes of your time. Your new web site will be activated in 24 hours and backed by a 10-day money back guarantee. After 10 days your cost will be a one time set up fee of $39.99, and a monthly hosting fee of only $39.99. If you would like to make any changes, or if you would like to cancel your web site, please call our toll free customer support line at 800-372-8552. To confirm your understanding of our offer please answer the following questions." This verification tape was then listened to by our Quality Control Department to verify that all the responses were positive and clear prior to accepting this order. 6/23/04 Bizopia mailed Mr. Alvarez a welcome letter to the address he supplied. The welcome letter reiterated the plan in writing and listed our customer service number 800-372-8552 for the customer to call to cancel, ask questions or make changes to his web site. It also stated Bizopia will begin charging you just $39.99 monthly after your 10 day money back guarantee period ends. If you are not satisfied for any reason, just call 800-372-8552 to cancel before the 10-day period is over to avoid being charged. Billing will occur through your local phone bill for your convenience. 7/15/04 Mrs. Alavarez called to cancel. The web hosting service was cancelled per her request. No credit was issued because her request to cancel was after the trial period had expired.
