I went in to blockbuster to rent without my card which they make me show my driver license the manager on duty was taking care of me and said I couldnt rent because their data base kicks you out if you dont rent for three months, which I had rented a few weeks prior so after standing in line for ten minutes and being denied I ran home got my card

went back to rent my sons game another employee took care of me and as my son and I (hes 11) and another customer with a little girl (maybe 6or7) were exiting I looked at the so called manager and gave him the loser sign (a L shaped symbol in front of my forehead) to which he responed *uck you in front of all the people in the store higher up management has yet to respond but that is the last time Blockbuster will get my money

Resolve Block Buster Problems

I have had the exact problems with Block Buster that these many customers have and I have made a personal decision not to rent videos. BlockBuster will get you one way or the other. I rented a BlockBuster video one time, took it home, watched it and returned it only 3 hours after renting it and the same exact employee who rented to me called me my name and said hello, you back again, I said yes, I want to return the video, the employee scanned it in front of me, with me standing their looking at him, he said you have $4.16 late fee, I said for what, he said for returning this video late, I said I am not returning it back late, as you know, he said but we expected you to keep it for 2 days, so when you return it early, you are returning it late, I said repeat what you just said to me a little louder so you can hear how redicious what you are saying sounds! - He had to smile, and call the manager explain to the manager what transpired, and they manager went into the computer and removed the charge. Now I never rent videos because to the fees, by the time you finish paying late fees you might as well purchase the video out right. If I see a video I really like I go to Best Buy and simply purchase it for about $13-$19 DVD or $5-$9 for VHS, and save my self the rental late fees. With VHS's being to cheap these days, VHS's cost about the same amount it would be to rent it, especially with late fees attached. Thank you for listening to me, sometimes in life people just want to be heard, again Thank You.

The Wrong Person Got Shown The "L"

So, Bob you are condemning the BlockBuster employee for supposedly being rude and using uncalled for language in front of your son? Oh, I see you (as his PRIME example in life) being disrespectful and unnecessarily irate over a simple situation in front of your son IS acceptable though? I cant believe you readily admit to your stupidity and expect everyone to applaud your actions! You know if you dont have enough respect for yourself or your son how can you expect it from anyone else? Bottom line you are supposed to rent a video with your membership card that is why you were given one. He was doing his job by requiring you to have the card at the time of purchase. He, nor BlockBuster, owe you anything and did not deserve your childish behavior You, on the other hand, did deserve his.

#4UPDATE EX-employee responds

Fri, July 18, 2003

Hey Rick, F You!!! I make upwards of around $150,000 to $200,000 a year, and if you made the "L" sign at me, you would have received the same response. Next time you get pulled over in traffic, have to take a flight or do anything that will require you to show I.D., take the same tact and see what happens. Blockbuster managers require the card because it saves time and helps to reduce theft. Also, it keeps lines from forming behind idiots like you who can't seem to remember their s**t and hold up the process for people like me that know how the game is played. I never worked for Blockbuster, nor would I want to. However, I wish there were more employees around that stuck to their guns and followed procedure, and less irresponsible s**t bags like you that can't seem to grasp the concept of responsibility.

I just want to let you know that *uckyou is not a valid response from a manager and that if i was doing a eighties type response i would have mopped the floor with his face when you take a job like that it is your responibilty to keep your cool and a little jesture doesnt give you the right to use profane language in front of children but from your comments it seems to me you have a great carreer with blockbuster

It is true that the database in the STORE has a limited amount of space in order to store all the data. Depending on how long you since the last time you have rented, your rent habits, and other variables, the database has to be cleared somewhat in order to make room for new members for the database (it is just like a computer at home). If you have your card, and you are not in the stores database, they can look at the card number in the national database because that card number was issued to you and only you (can't do it by name). Do you know how many John Smiths probably rent at Blockbuster. If you are thinking "Why don't they just look everyone up from the national database", you are probably not aware of issues regarding networking in this day and age. A network of that size, and spread out so far from one central computer would be almost an impossibility at this point, because not only would it have to keep up with all of your personal information, but everything you have rented. If you insulted an employee, I'm surprised all they did was use a "bad" word with you. How would you like for someone to come up to you at work and heckle you for doing your job. People think they degrade other people at that position because it is a customer service job...everyone...practically every job is a customer service job...so get over it. Just because someone makes less than you might does not give that person who makes more the right to belittle the person who makes less. Oh yeah, and I think that whole "loser" thing on the forehead went out back in the eightie or something. I would be irritated if you chose to belittle me with some out-date form of slander. Thank you for your time.
